May 6, 200719 yr I am looking more forward to the release of these two products than I am SP1! The screenshots and descriptions seem awesome. I have a few questions:1.) Is the choppy water dependent on the weather and will it affect the ability for water landings/takeoffs?2.) Can you hear and "feel" the difference in the runway/taxiway textures?3.) What affect will DX10 have on FSXE? Will a DX10 patch be necessary?
May 6, 200719 yr Number 1 would be good if it can happen. :-) I'd also like to know if this edition will enable FSX to show proper towering thunderstorm clouds like it real life. I'm guessing it won't but I thought I'd ask anyway. Also, sorry if this has been covered, will graduated visibility layers be included? Also, is there any inclusion of updraft/downdraft information? Finally, are any cloud types not included in FS9 going to be in this edition?
May 6, 200719 yr Hi,Thanks for the words and questions!1. We are working on this just as we had weather influenced textures for FS04. But keep in mind that, as with FS04, FSX textures are "frozen" in place unless you exit FSX and restart. So Calm Water at the start of your sim session will be Calm Water all the way through. They will not affect landings and takeoffs because those are controlled by a whole different sub engine within FSX, mainly the aircraft engine.2. The "feel" no, but the sound is an interesting idea. Right now there is no difference in the sounds, but we'll see!!3. That is an unknown right now because the DX10 patch is an unknown. As we move forward we'll know more, and of course, update things as needed.Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
May 6, 200719 yr Hi Vic,We'll get as close as we can for storm clouds.Visibility has been worked on. It is not perfect, but better than FS04.Not sure about the draft information. We are limited by what the engine of FSX can deliver. If it can be done in FSX, we can work with it.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
May 6, 200719 yr there really should be a discount for people like me who bought AS6.5 not too long ago because I was toldit was FSX compatible and hifisim had no idea how long it would be before a version for FSX came out.I realize its my fault for buying the thing.I wont be so quick next time.I'll wait and see if the visiblty issue gets sorted out.-sign me a not so happy customer.visibility issueswind shift issuessystem performance issues during updates.drastic cloudscape changes.its the first time I felt my money was not well spent with hifisim.maybe this new version will help me feel better but a discount would help. | Dave | I've been around for most of my life. May 6, 200719 yr Commercial Member Hi d.lahrman,"What affect will DX10 have on FSXE? Will a DX10 patch benecessary?"FSXE works as it is with the current version of FSX, no need DX10. And FSXE will help to disable your bloom effect in FSX which take about 45% of your performance, the sun will still look as with bloom effect on.ThanksChris Willishttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-dev-sigbanner.jpg Kind RegardsChris Willis
