ASX Problem with Fog and Solution - FSUIPC option setting

Featured Replies

Right, I meant the dll.xml of course.Actually I read quite well, thank you. The problem is that the FSCopilot issue in this case wasn't solved by moving it's entry to the end of the file, it had to be completely eliminated before the gauge would work.Since the gauge problem is that FSCopilot interferes with simconnect, and since ASX uses simconnect I thought it might be worth a try.Tom

NP Paul..will do..good luck & the file looks fine to me.PS..Have you done what Jim has asked? I can't see an answer in the posts?Tom, The problem with "Everybody" is they don't read things correctly or fully and for some unknown reason they add or subtract things that they read.My post regarding reading was in reference to the "Royal We" and not the "you"...rofl I was refering to all those people that don't read the manuals etc etc...Nothing to do with you..maybe..lolAgain you have made the comment that FSCopilot interferes with SimConnect. I find it highly irregular that this could happen and would suggest that the other software had the problem, not FSCP. Sometimes they both simply address the same area and conflict but it is unusual. I would have to see the code before I laid blaim.!! This of-course doesn't mean it didn't happen but I need to see it first. This is a brand new reported fault for FSFDT and if you are correct I would like to know more. As this is off topic could you start a thread at MCDU regarding this and all the "Sperts" will have a look at it. :)One thing I would like to know is if you removed FSCP how do you connect to the network/voice etc? What program do you use? How do you do it? That would be interesting to know.RegardsSteve

ok think I found my problem...I had ASX set to download vatsim weather, swapped it back to ASX weather now works fine again. Temp drops away as the plane climbs, but the only things is the turbulance is quite heavy.....

Thanks

Paul

In my humble opinion, and after some tests - it all has to do with lower visibility layer in FSX.ASX + FSUIPC = problem with foggy layer, occasional "super fog";ASX standalone = same, fog is a bit less, even when reported crystal clear visibility;FSX's own weather = no problem, tweakable through advanced weather options.Just to get back on track, and reading through thread that goes all over the place - in FSX this layer is set through fsx weather - advanced - visibility tab. Setting it to 1 clears this at times annoying and often in clear weather absolutely unnecessary default layer, giving you a nice vfr experience (unless you are flying below sea level). And this parameter stays fixed throughout all your flying, until you change your weather options. Now the PROBLEM with ASX - is that in great weather (visibility 20 miles plus, it still resets the lower visibility somehow to default 2998 (try it, you'll see). what you see then is this ugly thin foggy layer , especially if you fly around low mountains. I think that's it. if you stop overriding this FSX setting in certain great weather conditions and/or asx settings (max upper visibility set high) then set it to 1 - then this is more or less solved. On a side note - curiously upper visibility has max setting, no min setting, heck, everything else is tweakable with min/max... Somehow the problem worsens with ASX FSUIPC combo (lower visibility layer often gets thicker). FSUIPC has a tweakable parameter for this layer in the .ini, but it gets ignored. And things get even more messedup/complicated when visibility is lower than 10. Some unrealistic layers (including super fog, etc.) start getting generated. My last super fog - 6/12 20 miles nothwest of MMSP, 6:16 pm (metar said few clouds at 3000 ft, visibility 9999), gets even funnier with lowering maximum upper visibility...The suggestion in the other thread to turn upper maximum visibility in ASX to 0 is not producing any results. The only thing I saw it leads to some bizzare scenarios when airport is IFR with no major clouds/fog are present. And again, bunch of side references to all kinds of things, so it becomes a confusing read. yes, winds, temps, weather stations and weather depiction at times are also off, different problem/bugs. Or are they glitches :) ?So imho, at the moment fsx's own weather is far less aggravating, more accurate depiction and quite tweakable in generic ways. I can't beleive I am saying this... :) Regards.

Good to see she's fixed Paul :)I must say the fix to this issue is a new one as well so I would stop kicking that black cat under the ladder if I was you...ROFLRegardsSteve
