GIV final textures...for now

Recommended Posts

Here are the final colors for the GIV. Anyone can tweak the colors as they se fit, its pretty easy to do. There may be some small detail changes but these will basically be what I upload tommorow or the next day. Merry Christmas :) These will all work with Rick's version 3 GIV which I highly recommend. He fixed a bunch of little things and its improved even more from the original since version 2. Thanks Rick!!Hornithttp://www.xplanefreeware.net/freehost/hornit/g4gb.JPGhttp://www.xplanefreeware.net/freehost/hornit/g4gt.JPGhttp://www.xplanefreeware.net/freehost/hornit/g4tb.JPGhttp://www.xplanefreeware.net/freehost/hornit/g4ort.JPG

WOW! They all look great! Will all these repaints be in one download? Or will each livery be a seperate download?

Great job, Jim, you've refined the liveries beautifully by the looks of things. Rick's certainly worked on this baby to get her right; she's soooooo smooth, now. Every VIP should have one.I suppose the only teenie weenie lickle comment I'd have about your rework is the front windows. The real plane has metal surrounds on the two forward panes, so it's technically not correct to remove those; although your way looks very pretty. Anyway, that's just me being pernickety. Your liveries will certainly end up on my own hard drive!Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg

I think what I was trying to do was to make it "look" a bit more realistic. I was also trying to get it to make the windows look more dark, like you see in photos. Making all the posts white helps this. Also in most daylight conditions the posts look very bright. I know they are chrome, but I thought this looked better than the reflective textures and the way they were done in that area. The window should be straight across on top and bottom for the two center windscreens. With the refective area Rick had you got an uneven line over the top area of the two center screens and thats not really 100% correct either. What I'm going to try and do is make the center post area slightly darker as I can't show the entire reflective chrome look around those center windscreens because then you would hav the uneven larger area on the upper area of the windows which I did not like and is not accurate. Here are some shots which show the chrome looking pretty bright and is what I was striving for :)http://www.xplanefreeware.net/freehost/hornit/pit.jpghttp://www.xplanefreeware.net/freehost/hornit/pit1.jpghttp://www.xplanefreeware.net/freehost/hornit/pit2.jpg

Mark, Here is what I did, I just tried to simulate metal in the area of the center post. I think its a bit more like the real thing now, there is a noticeable difference while still retaining some window darkness and not making it look like the center post is not there. Here is a before and after shot, let me know what you think.Hornithttp://www.xplanefreeware.net/freehost/hornit/post.JPGhttp://www.xplanefreeware.net/freehost/hornit/post1.JPG

Looks cool, Hornit. My honest opinion? I'd like to see a little more chrome surround. But hey, if we start getting that finicky, we'll be lining up the screwheads next. The bottom line is that it's a difficult model to paint in detail as it stands, due to the single fuselage bitmap; particularly, as teh area we're discussing is where the model curves in several directions. To really get tidy, Rick would have to start modelling for several bitmaps. But then, frame rates would poskyise (great word, eh?) and those approaches would just start getting too difficult. Give me a pretty plane with good frame rates every time - never mind the rivets - and Rick has certainly created that.Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg
