Hear All Coders! Why is there no easy way in ASX to eliminate FSX's

Hi Noel,Thanks for writing.Because it would mean ignoring the visibility value of every METAR, in every download, and every refresh. Or you can use the X Graphics special clear textures or you can set your minimum visibility to such a high value that you will always have unlimited visibility. Those are things that can be done right now! Thanks, Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/

Why couldn't you put a checkbox control in the interface what I can do manually, every single time, regardless of METAR:1. Load METAR2. Remove lowest vis layer3. Repeat!Thanks,NoelQX9650 w/ Retail HSF|ASUS P5E3 Premium WiFi|4GB Muskin Ascent 7-6-6-18 1T DDR3-1600|EVGA 8800GT|Seagate SATA 2 x 2|Seagate Cheetah 15K.x|XP Pro SP2|Vista 64--maybe never to be installed

annoying and unrealistic lower visibility layer of unlimited range when you select mimimum vis layer over 60m or so in ASX? This topic has been brought up numerous times by others, and invariably support responds by seeking details about what these posters are trying to get a simple resolution to. As others have confirmed, opening the weather dialogue in FSX, then to Custom, then to Advanced, then to Visibility tab, all to simply select and delete this lower, unlimited range vis layer. The problem is cured. The environment looks much more pleasant and realistic. The only problem is, you have to then shut down ASX so as not to receive updates, or so it appears. Why, please tell, cannot a command routine be run, when ASX refreshes the weather, to delete this layer automatically? What is the technical obstacle to this seemingly possible and elegant solution? If you can select and delete the layer thru the weather dialogue, what prevents this from being executed from within ASX, periodically, or during an online weather update?Dying to know in no uncertain terms, and thanks in advance,Noel

Tried this and it didn't seem to work. Still got that awful haze layer. Do you mean the selection under the designer tab,and then slide the overcast option to "lighter"?

Hi Noel,If I understand correctly, you are setting MINIMUM visibility to over 60 (unlimited) and then getting an unlimited visibility layer. This is normal behavior, as ASX is designed to depict reported visibility in such visibility layer. Without the layer, lower visibilities would not be possible, which important to proper weather depiction. In your case, I can see the benefit of having the visibility layer omitted from the station weather parameters entirely since you are choosing to not have visibility depicted. It is an unanticipated need and we haven't implemented that "feature", but we will work on in future revisions. Thanks for your feedback!

That is correct, that is how I get the unlimited vis layer. Thank you kindly for your consideration. I believe others will opt for this solution and will make ASX even more attractive to potential new buyers.By the way, the change the cirrus overcast 4 to transparent doens't seem to have resolved it all yet, but it does seem better. I'd still love to see a checkbox in ASX that allows the lowest vis layer to be deleted upon loading or refresh of the weather.

Maybe in FEX, it does not allow to more transparent?? what texture name you have changed in FEX?, but in xg it should fix it, using the overcast 04 or 05 set, (NOT the texture name, but the set name) the next version of ASX, Will be included in with option.IN XGbe sure the texture have not been overwrited with another set(see procedure below) you could try also cirrus overcast 05 in xg.-1 Install overcast 5 -2 uncheck overcast 5 in option\advanced install option, to avoid overwriting cirrus overcast in futur sessions.-3 Close XG (to enable the uncheck from before) -4 open xg. -5 Close xg.Let me know if still appears, PM me for another resolution.

Kind Regards
Chris Willis
