Will GMax R4D be available for FS2002?

Featured Replies

I did a forum search, but couldn't find anything that specifically says the GMax R4D will be FS2002 compatible. Will it, or is it updated to 2004 only? I don't think I will be getting 2k4.

YES! :-)We will be putting out versions for both FS2002 and 2004. Both packages will be on the same CD, so you'll get both for the single price of $25. Even better, there will be some additional liveries on it besides the MAAM NATS one. To date, Jan has done both a shiny metal version, the way #50819 looked in her heyday, as well as the present day silver paint. Then there will be a number of civil liveries as well, and many more free skins to follow. The intro will be at AVSIM's Flight Simulation Conference and Exhibition in just 8 days!!! That's 26 Septmeber, 2003. Be there!Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM - Rambow, Visser, Banting, Young, Womack, and Hamblyhttp://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/maamsim_logo.gif

Bill,That is excellent news as I will be sticking with FS2K2 for the forseeable future. Looking forward to the release of the CD. Will they be available to order through the MAAM site?Regards,ScottKJMS

Yes, when the time comes, the museum website, www.maam.org, will be the sole source for the CD, as it is with the present R4D and Briefing Time CD's. At some later date there will be a download version, but it will not have all the features, such as extra liveries, for instance, as the CD. We just can't produce a download the size of a full 650MB CD! Watch for announcements here and at the usual FS sites.Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM - Rambow, Visser, Banting, Young, Womack, and Hamblyhttp://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/maamsim_logo.gif

Mr. Rambow-I already have the 7th edition CD, just bought it earlier this year. Will I have to buy the whole new package just to get the GMAX model? I was hoping it was just an update. I'd love to be able to continue contributing to the fund, but money is a little tight here.

This is what Bill has said on the subject:"While I'm expounding on the subject, let me answer another question often asked - though not by you, I think. The new R4D will be a totally new creation, not a simple (or even complicated) upgrade. As such, we will be charging a full price, still $25, for the CD and download. We are not able, or to be candid, even inclined to give a discount to present registered users of the current R4D. The main reason for this is the extra labor involved in trying to deal with some sort of system for proving who is and is not a registered user of the R4D and all the resultant e-mails involved. Remember that all the developers and the people at MAAM who would have to handle the extra workload caused by any such system are volunteers and have other jobs. For instance, the onerous R4D black-out panel registration scheme of the old R4D causes a lot of extra work (mainly for me) that would better be spent at more productive work. We gladly dumped it for the B-25 and it will not arise from the dead for the new R4D, either. So it's full price for everyone and buy and fly. As always, the money all goes to the museum's restoration programs, so it's a good cause and we promise good value for the money. We think that even registered users of the old R4D for FS2002 will want to have the new bird and will feel they are getting their money's worth."Alastair
