At long last, the free upgrade of BT for FS9 is done and uploaded. Get it from the library and enjoy. Be sure to read the read_me.txt for some important details, in particular the included glass fix that users of some of the newer video cards will want.Oh, and did I mention that the BAre-Metal version for FS9 is also up? :-) Give me a couple hours and I'll try to get the new Falcon gunship uploaded, too. Many thanks to my partners and to the BTBT for their hard work.Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM - Rambow, Visser, Banting, Young, Womack, and Hamblyhttp://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/maamsim_logo.gif

Hi Bill, I had some problems with the FS9 upgrade. I allready had the 2002 Briefing time installed in FS9 and I was able to use it allright. When I installed the update, FS9 would not let the MAAM_B25.gauge and FSSound.dll module load on startup. I allready had the sound module identified in the FS9 config. file under old modules. So I uninstalled and then reinstalled BT 2002 and had no problems with running it.I then cut and pasted the original MAAM_B25.GAU and the FSSound module in a seperate folder to save them. After this I reinstalled the update for FS9 and then replaced the new gauge and module with the original ones. I started FS9 and loaded BT and everything was fine.I don't know if the files got corrupted in the download or if there's a problem in my system, but I thought I'd give you a heads up and see what you think. And by the way Thank you for this great airplane!Best regards,Brian Croughwell

Hi Bill, I have some questions for Jan, Fred, and the gang...Well...... I ran into the same problem as Brian, but just as I was about to go incompatable file-hunting, "Briefing Time" loaded. So far, it's been an off and on problem. Once the plane (..well, the panel, really..) loads successfully, I don't have a problem til the next time I start FS, or load go to another plane, and back to "Briefing Time". My symptoms are an unusually slow load, followed by an immediate dump to the desktop with no error messages from either Windows, or FS9. I'm not sure where the problem is, but one thing I did notice: I had installed the FS2002 Briefing Time from CD in anticipation of this patch. I never bothered to go to the FS9.cfg file to add the line that makes the FSSound.dll load prompt go away on the load. I haven't looked yet, but the new FSSound.dll doesn't seem to get me load option prompt like the old one did. Could this problem be related to the new FSSound.dll file in the modules folder? My other problem with the patch is about seperate control of the engines. After pressing either e+1 or e+2, I only have control of the #1 engine. No matter how many times, or in which combinations I press E+1,2 or e+2,1, I can't regain control of both engines with my throttle without reloading or reseting the flight. This is one I can't deal with. Please post a reply/response here as soon as you have some ideas for me on how to fix these.Everything else seems to be OK, but I've only had the patch for a couple of hours now.)I'm running FS9 in Windows 2000Pro, M$ Sidewinder Joystick, AMD Athlon +1900, with NVidia GeForce4 440MMX 64Meg video card. I've been flying the full version of Briefing Time successfully for about a year now, in FS2002, as well as in FS9, til now.) Help?!Yours, Randy Cainmailto:[email protected]

Bill, you and "all the guys" made my day! Thanks! Jaap.

Bill -- Good news here. Everything went in without a hitch. Did get a lock up from the Solid Nose model. But that went away with a "Cold Boot." Really nice work, really nice. Must get used to the reduced power, etc. The hydraulic pressure gauge now works. ------ Thank you, all.Sincerely.Frenchy -- out.

Hi Brian,After your clean re-install of the original BT and the FS9 update did you try loading the aircraft before putting in the old gauge and fssound files? It is unlikely to be the gauge file but maybe a corrupt fssound.dll file is the cause. The Oldmodules "fssound.dll=1" entry is not required with this latest version but it shouldn't cause any problems to leave it in the cfg file.Fred

Hi Bill,I'm new here so let me say Hi! I've been using BT in FS9 for 2 months as of today, and eagerly waited for the patch - it is everything I hoped for and then some:) Thanks to you and the BT team for making this effort, makes me glad I bought it!I really appreciate the "glass fix" especially, my hair is naturally unruly under the best of conditions and being exposed to a 200 kt slipstream don't help it any;) Installation of FS9 patch, Falcon and Bare Metal versions went perfectly for me, I didn't have the CTD or loading problems reported by Brian and Randy. I don't know if this made any difference or not, but before installing & running the 1st time, I removed the line "FSSOUND.DLL=1" from the "OLDMODULES" section of FS9.cfg, since you've updated that .dllThe *only* problem I've seen after 2 hrs of use, is that the "glass fix" does *not* work on the solid-nose Falcon. It does on the default BT and the bare-metal version. I'm assuming this has something to do with the Falcon having a solid nose. I'm using a GeForce Ti-4200 128mb, with the 45.23 Detonator drivers, Windows XP Home, Dell 8250 P4 3.06gHz HT, 1gB RDRAM. Just thought I'd pass it on.Thx for the hard work guys, I love BT and *really* love the patch!Regards,Lee

Bill,Just wanted to say thanks. I loved her before and even more now. Went in without a hitch and what a smooth flight we took.Great job guys. Thanks again.

>The *only* problem I've seen after 2 hrs of use, is that the>"glass fix" does *not* work on the solid-nose Falcon. It does>on the default BT and the bare-metal version.Hi Lee,Just run the 'glass-fix.exe' again and you won't need to nail your cap on your head anymore with the solid nose version either. ;-)We do have a problem with the glass-fix not working on the 'medium' and 'light' models, will be fixed shortly.best regards,Jan

Please>post a reply/response here as soon as you have some ideas for>me on how to fix these.Hi Randy,Always best to use f.i. the MAAM Start-up flight, ( if needed choose another airport for start-up and save that as your default BT flight ) then you'll always have the two throttle/rpm/mix levers activated. You're right though, when you choose to want to see start-up in Spotview mode ( pretty neat now, huh....;-) ) via Ctrl/E you'll have lost both levers control. Regaining control over both levers is indeed a bit awkward, already in FS2002 as well. With a bit of luck it *is* possible though:First push the'E' key and keep it pushed in, then choose '1 ' ,keep it pushed in as well, then '2'. Now you have E/1/2 all pushed in, let go of '2'first while keeping the others pushed in, then '1' then 'E' . That should do it. She's a special lady,

Hi Fred , You were right about the FSSound module being corrupt. I did some more playing around with the files and found that the MAAM_B25.gauge works fine with the old FSSound module. Thanks for the help. Brian

Hi Bill. Thanks for a GREAT update. I had the same problem as other with the fssound.dll. After installing the update FS2004 crashed and said there was an error in the fssound.dll module. I think the version was 6. I deleted the 6 version and replaced it with the 5 version and FS2004 is OK. Please explain what we should do. Is the Version 6 fssound.dll needed? Is it faulty? What should we do in the fs9.cfg with the fssoud.dll=1 line? Thanks, best regards, Bob.

>Just run the 'glass-fix.exe' again and you won't need to nail>your cap on your head anymore with the solid nose version>either. ;-)Thanks, Jan! Why didn't I think of that??? Worked perfect, now I don't need super glue to keep my "cap, pilot's, w/gold braid" from blowing away :) (I've bought and lost at least 47 virtual caps since I got BT...)You guys have done an awesome job, and I'll definately be in line to purchase the new R4D when it's ready. I had the FS2k2 version and it was my favorite plane - I'm really looking forward to flying her in FS9!Regards, Lee

Hi all, I'm going to try the old version of FSsound.dll and see if that helps. One other problem I've found since last night is that at random flight times, FS9 crashes alltogether, to the desktop for no appearent reason. I don't get any error messages or prompts, just the desktop. (I have Ctrl+C set to prompt on exit, so it's not a typo, either.) Did anyone beta test this patch with FS9 on Windows 2000 Pro? I know I'm one of a small minority using this OS, and somehow, not all of the things that work with XP work the same way in Win2000. If I can help somehow, feel free to contact me.

Bob,Fssound.dll ver 1.6 is supposed to be compatible with FS9 but there seems to be a few people having trouble with this module and it looks like it may be related to Win2000.The older version works fine and you can use that without losing any functionality. The only thing different is that the newer ver 1.6 does not need the fssound.dll=1 line in the cfg file, that is only required for earlier versions.Fred
