June 7, 200817 yr Hi, I just purchased your fantastic Avenger, but Active Camera seems to turn off whenever I use it... It turns back on whenever I switch to a different aircraft, but it just won't work with the Avenger. Is anybody else experiencing this, and is there a fix somewhere? It's only the "internal VC view" that doesn't work, even if I disable and re-enable it it won't turn on. AC's "Flyby view" feature works fine. But it's the AC "head latency" that I really miss, it sort of gives you a better "feel of the pants"... :(Oh and it's abso-freaking-lutely marvelous except for this issue! I'll recommend it to anybody!
June 8, 200817 yr The internal VC view of Active Camera works fine for me with the TBM. Then again, I keep head latency turned off. June 8, 200817 yr I am experiencing a similar problem with active camera. Active Camera works fine for me IF I stay out of the 2D panels. If I fly only with the VC I have no problems. The problem seems to happen if I work with any of the 2d panels, then AC stops working and won't work unless I reload the aircraft. So far I've flown several flights without touching the 2d panels and active camera works great then. And yes I have head latency turned off, not sure if that makes a difference also.JC
June 8, 200817 yr Some problems here also. I am no longer able to use the mouse in the outside and vc views with Active Camera. When I switch to another aircraft, everything works fine again. Ciao! Rosario Manzo, IT
June 8, 200817 yr I'll confirm that. My first flights were made without the 2D pop-up panels. When I tried to use those, I lost AC. June 8, 200817 yr Well AC is out of business AFAIK (site not updated since 2005), so our only hope will be support from MAAM. Haven't got heard of this problem in any other aircraft, except the Eaglesoft Twin Comanche. In that plane the fix was supposedly to edit the panel cfg files, in lines with "zorder=xx" you had to write "//zorder=xx". commenting out a few "zorder" commands, whatever that is... The Avenger panel.cfg doesn't have "zorder" in any lines, so that's not it... :-zhelp
June 8, 200817 yr The Avenger disabled my Active Camera during the first flight of the plane, but after shutting down FS2004 and re-starting it, AC hac worked just fine without any further problems. However, I know that I clicked on every cockpit switch during that first flight, which I have not done since. I suspect that is part of the armament, because I've been playing with the lights and haven't seen the problem again.
June 9, 200817 yr Reloading the aircraft is the only way for me to make it work again. And loading up in the VC to begin with, and by being careful not to cycle through the 2D view. I'm using the latest version of AC btw, and my computer (XP Pro sp3) is up to speed with updates.Quite annoying, I've grown so fond of AC over the years. :(
June 9, 200817 yr I use the "S" command to cycle through the views including the 2d view and I've not had the AC lock up with just the cycling. It seems the only time it lockes up is if I manipulate a control in the 2d panel, not just cycle through it quickly. I've also had the problem when using a 2d pop-up windows in the outside aircraft track view, such as when starting.
June 10, 200817 yr You're right Monkie, seems that it only happens when we use the 2D-panels, if I just "S" past quickly AC still works! But still it would be nice to get to use both without reservations though.
June 14, 200817 yr The fix to the active camera problem is to go into the panel config files and comment out ZORDER in every window where it appears.just put // in front of the lines where zorder appears. That will fix it.Eric AND
June 14, 200817 yr Commercial Member The problem with commenting out Z order is that you may have problems with panels or pop-ups overlapping others where they should not.Bill RambowMAAM-SIM http://www.fssupport.com/maam/hgrsm_blkani.gif Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM www.maam.org
June 14, 200817 yr Yeah, Bill thats true, but if you want to use Active Camera, thats the way to cure it unless you guys have a better way. This same problem occurs in the Cloud 9 F-4 Phantom. That was that teams workaround, though it does come with the caveat.I havent found it to be a big deal in the Avenger as I fly from VC mostly anyway because I have a widescreen monitor and the 2D panels get stretched in 2D. June 1, 200917 yr Hi, Bill, thanks again for another WONDERFUL model!Eric, I too had this problem with active camera. Once I hit one icon in the 2D world, no more AC....til "reload user aircraft". Thanks for that tip. I'll look for it in a couple of other planes I have the same problem with. The great thing about MAAM's models is if you do have Active Camera, you probably don't need the 2D's anyway. I got to see a CAF TBM Avenger at "Rolling Thunder" (Ellsworth AFB, KCRA) this weekend and was inspired to come home and fly it.Thanks again to all involved.Yours, :(

I'm looking forward to seeing our "Turkey" (the real one) fly again at the big show this weekend. I can never get over how impressively massive the old girl is.Cheers, Bill Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM www.maam.org
