July 3, 200421 yr I heard the new ATI Radeon X800 boards are shipping. Do any of you have it yet? From what I've read, this just might be the answer to absolutely great frame rates and much more fluidity in FS. I'm really anxious to hear a review of this board with our favorite simulation hobby. It's selling for $399.00 at Best Buy, and Gateway announced it's shipping on their PCs. The 256mg. version seems to be the top of the line version. Can't wait to hear from the first reviewer. Stan
July 3, 200421 yr Hi both the 399$ X800 PRO and the 499$ X800XT PE is 256 mb. X800XT PE is significantly faster up to 25 % faster than the X800 PRO with aa and aniso especially. Also not to forget is the 6800 series from nvidia. The 6800 ULTRA with the latest drivers seem to perform very well in FS 2004 just about identically as with X800 XT PE.And 6800 GT I rank a bit higher than the X800 PRO since it
July 3, 200421 yr >Can't wait to hear from the first reviewer.> StanI am yet to see an honest review about this card on this forum. So far a bunch of hyperbole with no concrete numbers. And please when someone does the review - I don't care about those super-high resolutions like 1200x1600. Michael J.http://www.reality-xp.com/community/nr/rsc/rxp-higher.jpg Michael J.
July 4, 200421 yr Well to do these cards justice you really have to run at 1600x1200 with 4xaa and 8x aniso. It

July 10, 200421 yr Hi Stan,I picked up an X800XT card just yesterday and I found that for some reason Far Cry has wierd texture rendering issues. FS9 also has wierd issues where the ground textures seem to "jump around". I have no idea what on earth could be causing this because I haven't heard of this happening anywhere else.I have to admin, though, that FS9 performance seems to have been significantly improved! I own the PMDG 737 aircraft and previously in VC mode the framerate would drop down to 18fps (I had a 9700 pro). Now in VC mode the FPS remain steady at 30fps!!Also when I turn autogen all the way up I still get very good framerates. I was surprised by this because I thought that it was my CPU holding back performance (3GHz P4).Anyway, the jumpy textures are more than a little annoying so I'm hoping that the next drivers (4.8) will solve that issue.James
