hi,i upgraded from this specs:P4 1.7GHZ 512L2 CACHE256MB RDRAMMSI GEFORCEFX 5200 128MBTO THIS ONE:P4 3GHZ 1M L2 CACHE512 DDR RAM SAME VIDEO CARDMSI NEO2-P MOTHERBOARDI FELT NO PERFORMANCE DIFFERENCE IN FS2004 (NOT 1 FPS INCREASE)NOTHING IS WRONG IN MY HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE (WINDOWS XP)DO I HAVE TO CHANGE MY VGA TO FEEL THE DIFFERNCE OR DID I JUST SPENT MY MONEY FOR NOTHING

HiWell first of all this post really belongs in the hardware forum and don`t be mad if it gets moved.;)The next thing is that your post is so generic that I`m getting the impression that you slapped some stuff in your pc and did a quick repair of XP at best.Be more specific in fact the more you can tell us the better the chance of someone bothering to help you.Offhand you should see some improvement with that upgrade but there are too many unanswered questions.Did you disable onboard sound/vieo in the bios if you have plugin cards? We need to know in order to help.Troy

Graphics cards do improve FPS in FS2004. There was a report at the major graphic cards and FS2004 in Toms hardware but I haven't got the link to give you. Perhaps someone else has it. Also I would increase my Ram to 1Gb if i was you.Stelios

Check your bios video settings. Messed up bios video settings can cut your frame rates dramatically.

i dont have any soundcards or lan installed cause i have a builtinsoundcard and lan in my MOTHERBOARD,i also installed the lastest drivers for eveything. For Stelios:Since your sys is close to mine(Except for th VGA),How much FPS do u get sitting at KLAX with heavy weather in vc mode ???also how much FPS do u get while flying the PMDG B737NG in vc mode??I HAVE TOMS HARDWARE report and it reports that with your VIDEO CARDand these settings: 4X AA , 8X AF, 1024x768x32 res sitting at Hong Kong at dusk u should get 26FPS.Can u test it for me please to ensure TOM's report . Thanks

"NOTHING IS WRONG IN MY HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE (WINDOWS XP)"Then I'm afraid noone can help you.I wouldn't be so sure though. Sure, a 5200 isn't a very fast videocard, but going from 1.7GJz to 3 GHz should still result in a noticable performance improvement.

How can i check my VIDEO BIOS settings

This should be in the hardware forum.Doing apples-to-apples comparisons across systems is pretty hard. Where is frame rate limiter set? Are all the slider settings the same? Resolution? etc etc. Is your new CPU HT-enabled, and if so, have you tried running FS constrained to only one virtual CPU?Also, the FX5200 is a dog. I just upgraded from an FX5600 to a 256MB 6800 Ultra and it was by far the best $600 I've spent on hardware in a long time...made a huge (30%) difference in frame rates on my 3.06GHz P4.RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Washington, DC

Hi ,THNAKS FOR THE CHART but can anyone grauntee that if i bought the RADEON 9800 for example i'll get around 30FPS .what sys specs did he used in this test????Sorry for my silly questions but i m soooooooooo afraid to waste my money again like an idiot.

He used a 3.2 GHz P4 and 1 gig of RAM.However, that scenario was not very CPU limited at all. He only used standard quality settings and it's obvious that the CPU is removed a bottleneck. Throw in some AI traffic, addon aircraft and scenery etc. and all cards faster than the 9700 np would hover around the 20-25 FPS mark.
