March 12, 200521 yr Is anyone else having the same issue? Ever since the release of Catalyst 5.2 drivers I have been having ridiculous stutter where before I had none. When I look at the frame counter I see that it's very erratic. It jumps from 30fps to 10fps or lower and this is with no clouds. It keeps jumping around erratically and you can clearly see that it's negatively affecting FS2004.Today I noticed that there's a new Catalyst 5.3 so I decided to try that and I still have the same awful results. The problem immediately dissappears if I install Catalyst 5.1 or Omega drivers. What's goin on here? I am using a Radeon 9800 PRO. Thank you.
March 12, 200521 yr Hey there,I myself have posted a problem about stutters on this GFX card. My fix was to lower the Global Texture from Massive to Medium. Once I did that, the stutters went away leving my sim very smooth. Better still, I can't see any difference in image quality or texture loading by lowering this setting.Lets us know how you doRegardsAdeyhttp://members.lycos.co.uk/electronicplayg...0easydriver.jpg
March 12, 200521 yr Yes, same here. I have reverted to Cat 5.1. Until now every release had been smooth with FS9. Sometimes with more fps and sometimes equal, but always smooth. My VGA is X800XT PE.Regards.

I really had nothing to complain about. The only time FS2004 would really take a speed hit was during heavy clouds but even that was not so bad. With CAT 5.2 or 5.3 the fps counter shows 25 and then it dramatically falls to 7 and it keeps bouncing around up and down like this erratically making the sim look horrible. It's definitely an issue with the CAT drivers but apparently ATI has not noticed anything.

I wonder how can I report this issue to ATI?
March 12, 200521 yr Report it to ATi on the support pages of www.ati.comUse the 'Catalyst Crew' Feedback form. Glenn Ryzen 3700X, X570 Pro Wifi, 32GB 3600mhz RAM, Nvidia Titan Xp "Galactic Empire", RM750x PSU, H700 case, 2x NVMe M2 SSD, 1x SATA SSD
March 12, 200521 yr Where is the Global Texture seting at? I cannot find it.Thanks a lot, Howard Jetline Systems: Intel 8th Gen Core i7 8700K (4.8GHz Overclock); GTX 1080 Ti; LG Curved UltraWide 3440x1440 Monitor .
March 13, 200521 yr >Where is the Global Texture seting at? I cannot find it.>>Thanks a lot,Its in the hardware Tab, in your FS settings > display. The slider at the bottom 'Global Max Texture Size'RegardsAdeyhttp://members.lycos.co.uk/electronicplayg...0easydriver.jpg
March 17, 200521 yr Reported it to ATI. Asbolute waste of time. I got a worthless canned response. Told me mess around with certain hardware settings which really did'nt make any sense since it was their driver that started causing the problem in the first place. In any case, I believe I found the solution on my own. I've installed Catalyst 5.3 again but this time I've added the latest DNA drivers. Worked like a charm! Stutter is gone.
March 17, 200521 yr Your last post reports success with curing the Catalyst 5.2 and 5.3 stutter problem by, "adding the latest DNA drivers". What are DNA drivers? Thanks,

March 17, 200521 yr > I've installed Catalyst 5.3 again but this time I've added the>latest DNA drivers. Worked like a charm! Stutter is gone.I'm confused. The post I'm quoting made me think that you installed the Catalyst 5.3's and then installed the DNA drivers in addition.Or, did you mean that you had installed only the latest DNA version of the ATI Catalyst instead ?Thanks,

I first installed Catalyst 5.3 and then I installed the DNA drivers.
March 17, 200521 yr OK - That's what I'll try......Thanks for sharing your experience and successful resolution.
March 17, 200521 yr My pleasure. It was annoying me for so long and I was wondering if many other people were experiencing the same problem. I do hope that ATI will address this issue in a future driver release. Please let me know if you are successful with the DNA drivers.
