New ATI Drivers

Featured Replies

Any idea why ATI dropped it's normal (smaller) monthly driver update? Looks like we now have to use that larger one which also forces us to run another MS program in the background to get to the control panel.http://www.ati.com/TerryPS: There is a note about some FS2004 AA/AF stuff in this update.

Howard, Thanks,The page scroll was stuck and I did not see the bottom part of that page. I hope I did not screw up my computer too badly with the net what ever program. Right now I either have to click on my computer name and or a password just to turn the darn thing on which I never had to do before. Thanks MS for messing up a perfectly good machine.Terry

I never had that problem with the earlier versions with CCC.This latest driver is supposed to fix the AA problem. Installing it tonight.Andy

>I never had that problem with the earlier versions with CCC.>>This latest driver is supposed to fix the AA problem.>Installing it tonight.>>AndyI don't see any mention of AA in the release notes for this driver. All it mentions is AF in terms of Flight Simulator 2004. Am I missing something?

Superfort, I guess I misread the release notes. "Flight Sim 2004: Launching the application under Windows XP and enabling Anisotropic Filtering (AF) within the Catalyst

Thanks Pete but I already fixed it by "Removing" the .Net framwork program. As long as ATI continues to provide the original control panel version which usually is at least 10 MB "Smaller", why put up with the Microsoft Net program. (extra 35 MB) As long as I can manually set the AA and AF how needs a fancy little car going down some road.Terry

The Catalyst Control Centre does give at least one extra feature compared to the normal interface - you can stretch the image across two monitors.

Ryan That is not a very nice thing to hear. I hope it is only a vicious rumor.Terry

The AA jaggies I had been having a problem with(maybe since the FS 9.1 update)on the aircraft in spot view have gone with this driver using the ATI options, but not if using only AA within FS.My Aquamark3 score has jumped by about 1000 to 28600 with my 128M 9600Pro card and about 3fps to 28.51 so it looks like they were good with their performance claims.I'm happy.AndyPS. I run the .Net framework thing to be able to run Worldwind although I don't think I utilise it as I don't do the live downloads I think it is needed for.

After using the Control Center and setting up things. Do you need the boot up fils of "ATI.ACECLI.EXE RUNTIME" AND "ATI2MDXX.EXE" to boot up everytime? If yes, can you disable them with NO harm done?Appreciate any input.Thanks.Abe

Well, as far as I remember from installing CCC 2-3 months ago, you can safely disable ATI2MDXX.EXE from services (disable and reboot), but if you disable CLI.EXE, you won't be able to load CCC any more. But, make a backup and try. System will boot, no question, but you won't be able to load CCC methinks.

Thanks for replying Word Not Allowed.I did a search and found out that I was right. Once my preferences are done using the catalyst, there is no need for it to stay active. Actually it is recommended ot deactivate those file to free some extra memories.Abe
