January 21, 200620 yr Hello,I am about ready to order a new PC...I generally buy highend machines. Which manufacturer is up to date in the latest technology and provides great customer service? Thanks!Paul
January 21, 200620 yr I'll echo that. You can get exactly what you want and not have to settle with "close enough" specs of a manufacturer. And the wealth of knowledge on these and other forums is enormous. You can find a lot of help from other do-it-yourself simmers. Rick
January 21, 200620 yr PaulAs was said, if you buy a high-end pre-made PC, you're really getting ripped off. $2,000+ for a top line Dell or Alienware PC? You can build the same system yourself for $1,500. And it's not as difficult as you think the build one yourself. And don't think that your top-line pre-built PC has top-line components in it. Sometimes they use very dubious RAM, hard drive, psu, etc. Even the fans sometimes are not the best. If you are spending lots of $$$$, you should expect to get solid stuff, right? All you need to build a sweet FS-rig is a little supervisin', which you can get here. And generally, if you build a system that is great for FS, it's going to be great for just about anything else, too.Rhett Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
January 21, 200620 yr An additional expense of building your own is the software purchases. Evenso, I'll still build my own. I get exactly what I want (not what they want to sell me), and I can easily configure the system as I wish. The hardware costs are indeed less and the computer is better in every sense (gaming or productivity).Greg
