September 8, 200619 yr When do you suppose the first Nvidia Card will appear that is 512mgbte and actually SAY it will be compatible with DX10? Any "heads up" on such an announcement? Because that's when I'll upgrade my computer. Stan
September 8, 200619 yr I don't trust these Video card companies... I once paid $600 to get the FX-5900 Ultra by reading their website..about how many millions and billiong of what not...and everything. The only way I woud buy another video card is by looking at a screen and then comparing it with the output from a card thats 1/3rd its price and seeing if its anything to that extra $300. So the first DX10 is certainly out for me.I know this does not answer your Q. but still. :(Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
September 8, 200619 yr >My guess is Feb 07 when Vista is released. Its delayed again? Wasn't Vista to be released in January?
September 8, 200619 yr You do know that Windows 98 was originally called Windows 97 right? :) They missed their release date and renamed the entire OS.>>My guess is Feb 07 when Vista is released.>>Its delayed again? Wasn't Vista to be released in January?
September 8, 200619 yr I'll bet it's going to be a year or year 1/2 before Vista and directx 10 catch on. It's new so it's ggoing to take time. I'd be hesitent to get one of the first DX10 cards. There won't be anything that supports it, or very few games will. Vista, a new OS, Oh boy. That's gonna need time to get right. I have the beta, and I still can't get Creative or Nvidia drivers to work with it. Then again, I'm testing 64bit, which still doesn't seem to be taking off. I read somewhere the FSX is 32bit, and won't even support 64bit.Any how, just sharing my thoughts on this deal.Cheers,
September 9, 200619 yr >You do know that Windows 98 was originally called Windows 97>right? :) They missed their release date and renamed the>entire OS.>haha. And to take it further, by naming it "Vista", Microsoft has avoided this problem (you see, they're smart. They've learned..). It doesn't matter what year the OS is released, it can still be called Vista! :)RhettAMD 3700+, eVGA 7800GT 256, ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, etc. etc. Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB

Because that's when>I'll upgrade my computer.>> Stan>Fully< compliant DX10 ncards will not be out for another 12-18 months and possibly more, fully programable shaders as required will be long long road as both ATI and Nvidia have acknowledged a few months ago.In the short term you will see new "DX10" cards, but as stated, wait and wait some more as these first "DX10" cards will not be even close to what fully programable shaders will be able to do under DX10, or at least dont expect a whole lot and beware of the hype.
