October 21, 200619 yr Ho do I reduce the shimmering and Moire effect on the screen? My old video card nVidea FX 5900 Ultra did not have this. I remember I once got rid of the ATI card because it too had high shimnmering. Does anyone know what paramater I can play around with to reduce this effect?I tried Mips in FS9. (FSX does not have mips setting) That does help..but compromise is blurries that are too near.I have the video card nvidea 7600GT 256MB card and the latest nVidea driver (1.47? or 4.7Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
October 21, 200619 yr Manny,In your fsx.cfg file, search for a line called TEXTURE_QUALITYIt will be in the {Graphics} section. My setting was defaulted at 3 - try moving this down to 2 or 1, and see if that makes a difference. I did some quick checking and couldn't see much difference myself except for things being a touch blurrier at 1, but this may be the hidden mipmap slider from FS2004. Be sure to report back to us - I can mark it up in my config file guide.
October 21, 200619 yr Set Transpanency Antialiasing to Supersampling in the NVIDIA control panelCheers, Bob
October 21, 200619 yr Author I reduced the Anisotropic in the nVidia driver from x16 to x8.This helped a lot. reduction of this setting is better than reducing the mip level. They seem to do similar thing.MAnny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
October 21, 200619 yr I don't understand any of these suggestions. On my system, changing AF and AA in the driver settings has zero effect on FSX.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2.5 ghz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (94.47), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB

October 23, 200619 yr Manny,Thanks, but I kind of knew all of that already. :) What I meant is, if I select AA and AF in the driver settings, it does NOTHING in FSX.Therefore, if I want transparency AA or supersampling, and all of that, I can't do it...RhettAMD 3700+ (@2.5 ghz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (94.47), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
October 23, 200619 yr Same here, anything I do in the driver panel has NO effect in FSX.It seems it's all controlled from within the FSX settings itself.Bob, it seems as though you are missing the point. Rhett knows HOW to adjust the settings in the driver, it's just that it has NO effect in the sim.
