FSX won't work in fullscreen if second monitor is enabled

Featured Replies

I can't have a dualmonitor setup and use FSX in fullscreen mode. Is this not possible? I have tried setting the two monitors to the same resolution and refreshrate and also first enabling dual monitor support in windowed mode (as suggested in prior threads). Still it won't work.

Don't know what to say - works perfectly fine for me. Have both monitors at the same resolution. Runn in full screen and keep the comm stack and the GPS on the second monitor while I fly.Vic

Me too. I am currently running it using nVidia's horizontal display so I have a single screen spread right across both monitors, which works equally well windowed or full screen. Your brain soon factors out the 'bit in the middle' and it's highly immersive compared with one square monitor. Screengrabs are seamlessly wide, like the top image here: http://garyeason.googlepages.com/fsx

Yes it works. You can use Nvideas span mode. Even better, get a third monitor and Matrox triplehead to go. Then you won't have the bezel in the middle of the 2 screens. Total Immersion and frames don't suffer that much.Carlos

Just make sure that fsx starts at your primary monitor. It took me some time to figure that out...Edit: btw I use DualView.Vassilis

I was running TWO monitors perfectly with ATI 850 XT then all the sudden it went into windows mode on my next start-up,,,I have tried EVERY combination I can think of and NO luck getting things back to working,,,Any place where I can go for advice,,,PLEASE HELP,Multi screens are great WHEN they work...Thanks A million,Dean

You nailed my problem with the comment on primary monitor.Weird, but this was my results. I selected my other monitor (checked "Use this device as the primary monitor" in my display properties, moved the FSX display to my other monitor and then everything kicked in.Well, I want my primary display on my center monitor, not to the right. Obvious solution: Switch cable connections. WRONG!I don't really understand this, but no matter what combination I use with numbered monitors vs. cable connection, it still works funny and FSX seems to have a problem knowing which is which on my system. I still get the blacked out secondary windows nor can I change frequencies etc. while it is displayed.Discovery: If I simple go to Display Properties and disable my secondary monitor by removing the check mark by "extend my windows desktop onto this monitor", the enable it again by putting the check mark back in, everything works perfectly. Thanks for the help.RTH

It didn't help. Both screens turn black and I must reboot the system.

FS-X's multi-monitor support is definitely at least a little different than FS9's, and so far I haven't been able to discern just *how* it's different, at least to the point where I can describe it.At any rate - my rig suddenly developed an inability to switch to full-screen mode on two monitors - both views would go to my primary monitor on the switch. I soon realized that I needed to uninstall the drivers for my ATI card, which has recently been replaced by an NVidia one. This seems to've solved the problem *for me*.Obviously if I had done what I was supposed to do - uninstall the ATI drivers before inserting the NVidia card - I would perhaps not've had this problem. But I wanted to see how well the new card would perform before gutting the ATI drivers.Dave Blevins
