For you computer savvy folks ...

My main or first hard drive, 55 gigs, is completely full. I just installed a second hard drive, a Seagate 120 GB for more storage capacity. I have this new drive setup as a slave to the first one. My questions for you computer gurus out there is ...Can I move FS9 or FSX by copying and pasting into the new drive or does it require a new installation? With this slave setup, will any new files installed on the main drive overflow onto the second? Thanks!

If you move FS9 to the new drive, use this small application written by Flight1 to repair your registry settings: http://www.flight1software.com/files/FS_Registry_Repair.exeMoving FSX will require a repair installation to sort out the registry. Of course, the repair will also negate any changes and/or tweaks you've applied since you installed FSX. Read that as back up any files you'd like to keep prior to the repair.Regards, Jim Karn

Being designated the "slave" doesn't really impact the drive at all. It just asserts a signal line which the "master" reads so that it can set itself to ignore commands intended for the "slave".scott s..

One other thing, in regards to FSX. I don't know if this is the case but knowing how touchy it is, just moving FSX somewhere else on your system, may mess up your activation, requiring you to re-activate, or worse!

It will not do anything to the activation.

No overflow, you will just get an error message "Not enough disk space", or something similar. The best way is to use a program like Ghost or Drive image. Also, if you have two drives, one is ATA-100 and the other is ATA-133 they will both default to the slowest speed (ATA-100) in this case. Even if they are on different IDE channels.

Thanks guys ...I think I may have to resort to moving FS9 to my new drive. Since it would be located on the "slaved" drive could that reduce the sims performance? My concern is that you have your OS on one drive and the sim files on another.
