2D panels with Dell 2407 widescreen

Featured Replies

Got a Dell 2407 widescreen a couple of weeks ago. Rut it at 1920x1200x32. It looks great and the frames are good. Have noticed that in some of the 2d panels the instrument display panels are "streched" wider than they should be,(squares look more like rectangles). Have done some digging on this issue but have not been able to come up with a solution. Do not know if there is one. Maybe someone here knows. Can this widescreen be run at the above resolution and the 2D gauges "unstreched"? Thanks for the input.Regards,Joe

Hi Joe,My 2407 arrived yesterday and I was looking at this issue last night. The only way I can see that you can retain the correct aspect ratio of a 2D panel is to undock it (right-click on panel and choose Undock). Then drag the edge and move it until the panel has a 4:3 ratio. Not very satisfactory I know. In all honesty I find the stretching isn't too bad and I can live with it.Cheers,

You don't have to undock the Window. You can resize without undocking. Move the cursor to the right edge of the panel, anchor it (<->) and then resize. Use that empty space to the right to display some other guage like GPS or something. You can also save that flight. So next time, you don't have to do this... when you load the saved flight.Manny

Off topic Ray, but I'm curious about how you have set up your GoFlight switches and buttons. I have acquired a number of modules, and haven't yet decided the best way to use all these extra functions, so I'd appreciate some advice.--Bryn

The answer is to find someone to create widescreen 2d panel bitmaps for you ;-)I'm sure I'll not be the only one looking to offer this option as widescreen displays become increasingly popular.Greatest Airliners - DC-8Greatest Airliners - 727 Whisperjethttp://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...BANNER_PAUL.jpg

>Which modules have you got? I can give a better reply once I>know what you have. Thanks Ray, from ebay I have a T8,a P8, a GF45 and a GF166. Add to that another 10 switches on the #1010 Cessna box from desktopaviator.com, and a sprinkling of buttons, levers and switches on the CH USB yoke. Then, just cleared customs today, an RP48 and a GF46.It used to be a lot easier with just the VP Pro and the Pro Throttle :)Sorry about the thread drift folks.--Brynedit: come to think of it, there are a few buttons and switches on my GF MCP Pro as well.

Hi Bryn,<>As you can see from my sig I don't have a GF45/46 or RP48 but I do have the others.Toggle switch suggestions include:-Yaw damper, Anti-ice, Parking Brake, Landing Lights, Navigation Lights, Beacon, Strobes, Pitot Heat and Engine Run/Cut which together with a start engine button are useful for Engine starts.P8 (push button) suggestions include:-AutoBrake settings, Spoiler Arm, Engine start. Other button commands are for Project Magenta so won't be relevant for you.The GF166 can be used for either Com 1/2 or Nav 1/2. Two are best as you can use both. The GF166 is a specialist unit of course so you're pretty much limited to Comms/Nav.You're only limited by your own imagination. Think of regularly used key strokes and they lend themselves to button commands. The GoFlight system is nice because you can use the magnetic labels to help ideltify what button does what!On the CH Pro Yoke I use the two buttons on the left handle for cycling through the various views - forward and back. The front buttons are used for full-screen forward view (left) and acking commands on Radar Contact (right). FSUIPC is ideal for assigning buttons as there are so many additional commands.Hope that helps.

I am looking forward to purchase DELL 24", but I am getting many conflict information about DELL24" performance for 2D panel apperence as stretch.I will really appricate if you could send a screenshot of the 2D panel in 1920x1200, so I can see if the stretching is acceptable or not.If you have LDS 767, it will be perfect.ThanksSanal

I for one, would welcome widescreen 2d panels. I'm sure as time passes it will be a regular part of the new aircraft packages, (hope so anyway!).Regards,Joe

Sanal,Here's one of the PMDG737. I don't have the LDS767. I've had to reduce the size by 50% in order to meet AvSim's file size limit. It lacks the clarity of a 4:3 image but is still very readable.Cheers,
