Sam,The sites you reference are interesting, but I have in fact had mine up to 5.0GHZ on water alone. Water is a far more effective cooler than alot of people give it credit for, and yes it is an E6600 not a Q6600. You can control how much heat the chip gives off if you play around with the voltage alot. The quads in my experience don't respond to overclocking as well. But liek I said, voltage is key. Lower voltage means less heat, but too low and the chip doesn't have enough, so it's all a juggling game. Took me close to a week's worth of evenings to get it to a point where it was stable, and even though the water gets a little warm it still cools. And as you can see from both my signature and my previous posts, I run it at 4.0GHz day to day, as intermitent crashes can plague the computer if that coolant gets too hot at 5GHz and I don't want it to crash on approach from a 5 hour flight to Miami! :D

O MY GOD!!!!!The craziest "cooler" I ever seenI underestimate the real power of the Intel CPU

>What settings are you running at?>If it's not too much trouble, could you see how many fps you get at >KBOI? :DSure, tested 62 fps using unlimited. Normally, I use the recommended Vancouver+ scenery settings for the most part and lock the fps at 25. You can dl the vancouver+ fsx manual if you want to see them all listed. Here's what I have setup now:LOD: LargeMesh: 100Mesh Res: 19Texture Res: 1Water: Low 1.x , Low 2.x is fine too, but I dont like it.Scenery Complex: DenseAutogen: Normal or Dense25 fps looks fine to me, its smooth and I run FSX Google Earth Tracker on the 2nd monitor with Google Earth tracking the flight.Someone suggested putting MipBias=6 in the fsx.cfg, I found it did indeed make the textures sharper, but it seemed to make fast pans, not as smooth.Last couple of days, I tried increasing a few settings and 25 still holds everywhere but really big cities like New York.

I was tossing up between the Q6600 and E6850 and I ended up going with the latter.Currently its running perfectly at 3.7Ghz. Matched with an 8800GTX FSX runs quite smooth, even with the LVLD 767 which some claim to be a FPS hog in FSX.Very happy with my choice of hardware. :)

I'm happy with your choice of hardware to. :DMy E6750 is arriving today, I'm as giddy as a school girl. :(

Here's another choice: http://www.ocxtreme.org/forumenus/showthread.php?t=1275Note: Both tests are the X3210 (disregard the 2nd CPU picture). The first test-sequence is using an Asus 965 board and then again with a Gigabite P35. 3.6ghz is looking like a good, 24/7 target - with Thermalright Ultra 120 air - for all the G0 quads. So what's up with this little guy? The X3210 is simply a renamed Q6600 with an 8 multiplier (ahh, shall we call it a Q6400?) . . . for 50 bucks less. Still, make sure it's the G0 version. There's an X3220 with the 9 multiplier (a regular Q6600), but Intel is just playing marketing games with different multipliers. Other than the multipliers, these CPUs are all identical. Remember though, X-series part number still needs to include "SLAC_" to make sure you get the G0 stepping. If you want to save 50 bucks, get the X3210 and just run a higher FSB.
