December 22, 200718 yr Does anyone use this combination? How does FS9 run with it, can I maximize my sliders when I recieve this card after Xmas?I have 3.8 dual core and 2gig RAM Dave Taylor
December 22, 200718 yr You will not be disappointed!I run a 8800GT and a E6850 Core Due /2GB RAM combination, and the performance is 2nd to none.My sliders ( including weather are at the max) and just completed a flight with Vancouver + , CYVR V+ ( which itself is hard on FPS_, ASV 6.5 generated major storm clouds , and a FPS hog PDMG 737.With heavy weather , flying around CYVR , FPS hovered around 35 ( locked ) with occasional drops fo 25-28 when ASV would generate weather. Compared to my old system ( which was a not-too shabby 7900GT AMD64 4800_ Dual Core) , the performance is amazing. My old system in this exact same situation would have gotten me 15-20 MAX.Don't worry about the drivers ( like there seems to be so many problems with FS and Nvidia drivers). I am using 169.02 drivers with Nhancer and everything runs flawless. As for AA settings on the card , i suggest using 8X Supersampling AA , if you are not running too many clouds ( Supersampling looks the best, but hits FPS when running heavy clouds). When running ASV in heavy weather, use 8X Multisampling- you should enjoy a nice smooth flight
December 24, 200718 yr I use an 8800 series card, and the card alone helped me increase framerates alone in FS9. I had always read that FS9 was primarily CPU dependent and that the 7900GS was probably all the videocard I'd ever need for FS9. That turned out to be wrong. The 8800 helped increase performance without a CPU upgrade.RH
December 28, 200718 yr Flyguy - I have almost the same computer and it does run well but I do get pauses when panning. Any ideas ?Mark. Mark CYYZ
December 28, 200718 yr Mark, try lowering texture size to high or medium, that did it for my rig with the 8800GT.
December 30, 200718 yr Just put the 8800GT in and it runs circles around the X1900XL, with this 42" monitor< I am in hog heaven!!!! B42L8
