December 27, 200718 yr If the motherboard already has sound..use the money from the Soundcard to upgrade to an 8600GTS insteadThe 8500GT can only handle 12.8 GB/sec (UK
December 27, 200718 yr I'd put my money into the 8800GT... although it may be more money, it is certainly the price/performance leader of all higher-end cards. Hopefully you can fit it into your budget!
December 28, 200718 yr yeah dont waste your money on a 8500, get an 8800GT 512mb or 8800GTS 512 mb | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
December 29, 200718 yr no dont buy any of those. wait till january when the 9800GTX comes out. its double as powerful as an 8800GTX and gives a 10FPS increase in FSX. same price as the 8800 series
December 30, 200718 yr Jourdog, where the heck are you getting this information, presented to sound as fact? I see various rumors that suggest all sorts of things, but nothing seems very official. 10 FPS increase in FSX? Under what exact circumstances & settings? This question is usually completely relevent to declaring fps changes in FS products. December 31, 200718 yr i had one 8800 and i added one more and my FPS increased by 8-10 on my 22 inch monitor. SLI isnt much of a performance increase but double the power on 1 card is even better than SLI which means 10FPS. Also if you want an even better setup go for the 9800GX2. 2 9800GTX's in one card. Not SLI so all motherboards support it. Its pretty expensive but that'll give you even better FPS than a single 9800. Especially on high res monitors because of having two cards.Ive read reviews of 7950GX2 vs 8800GTS and there was at high res 30FPS increase. 7950GX2 is not 2 times as powerful as an 8800GTS yet 30FPS increase. So if the 9800GTX is two times as powerful as an 8800 then its definetely 10FPS or above.
December 31, 200718 yr Noel,It's not worth biting on this one.If there was a perfect 'Rig' 'Machine' 'Graphics Card' or whatever else anybody would want to call it, to run FSX flat out.One thing is for sure ..... It has had more than a year to find its way here into this forum, but, proof evident, it is still as elusive as ever.I don't want to start a flame war, or even sound like a 'Fan-Boy' butafter following the advice from 'Mature' and very 'Experienced' contributers within these AVSIM forums, my mediocre computer runs FSX very well for me indeed.
