FSX Flashing with Two Monitors

Featured Replies

I'm using two monitors on my system. One running at 1920x1200 and the other at 1024x768. Both are being run by a 8500GT card. The problem I am having is when I start FSX, after the scenery loads, the big monitor video starts flashing on and off. If I switch from full screen to window mode it stops. Or if I start FSX in window mode it is ok. I have always run two monitors but this is a new system and 24" monitor. Any ideas of how I can cure this so I can run FSX in full screen using both monitors? Thanks.Jim

I have the EXACT same problem but only in fs9. FSX works fine for me in multimon. Try to drag a screen in fs9 and hit alt-enter and it just flashes on and off until i window them again. Very annoying and most likely an nvidia issue. I use an 8800 and this has happened for me at least since i started trying back in the 163 series drivers.

I too have the exact problem and would love a solution. I simply fly in the windows mode (with the menu bar at the top). On a dual 24" monitors, I am not too upset - but would love to find an easy solution.

Same here- with triple monitors/views & a 48" horizon, FS9 Full screen is also not possible for me. But Windows mode is very smooth and reliable.I don't show menu bar at top (Key Alt to bring it up) and bottom task bar is on auto hide- drop cursor to bottom to show it. So for practical purposes- it's not too far from full screen. To further minimize distraction, I got rid of the horrible blue title bars- changed them to dark gray with green lettering- much like the Boeing FMC appearance.(AMD 1.8 GHz, triple GeForceFX5200 cards)Alex Reid

Yea, me too. I have three monitors, 2 x 19 and a 42. I want to run full screen on the 1920x1080, but its always touch-and-go. I've found the first thing is to set the big screen as my Main Monitor. That's a must. The load sequence always blanks out all 3 screens. After that, I never know. Sometimes FSX leaves all 3 blank and sometimes the program will minimize to the 2nd screen. If it minimizes, often the right click doesn't work and there's no way to get it maxmized. TM shutdown of FSX is the only option. If all 3 stay blank, a single "Alt-Enter" is my only hope. If it doesn't popup in windowed mode, I've found that a "pull the plug and reboot" is the quickest way back. Sometimes just banging keys for a while will get it back, but generally not. I initially had a 8300GS running 2 screens and it was displaying this same symptom. I was hoping that adding an 8800GT (as the primary Vcard) would fix this. It didn't. It's a real PITA.

I run duallies and full screen in FS9 goes without a hitch. FSX - it is just plain broken - worse after SP2. As long as I don't minimize to the desktop I'm OK, but if I need to get to another app -all bets are off. To be sure - a real PIA.Regards, Kendall#1: [email protected]/Coolermaster HyperTX2 Gigabyte P35-DS3L 4GB Crucial Ballistix Tracers PC6400 Seagate 250GB 7200.10 SATA2 Gigabyte X800XT -Cat 6.12's CH Yoke/Pedals/Saitek Throttle Dual Monitor: Dell 2405/1905 #2: Dell 8400 3.2 H.T. 3GB PC4200 Diamond Xtreme/Logitech X-530's

I'm running Vista's Beta SP1 and the update attempt said "Not applicable to my system." I assume my SP1 install already had this update. Thanks for the tip, though. Let's see if it helps some of the other guys.
