January 11, 200818 yr Hi, just want to know what is the max value you can put for TextureMaxLoad...it looks like that has minimized the stutters a bit...I currently have it atTextureMaxLoad=30Thanks,Bill Asus Tuf Gaming Plus B550 - Ryzen 7 5800X3D - Asus GeForce 4080 RTX OC Edition - 64GB DDR4 (3600Mhz) - EVGA 850W Power Supply - 2X 1 TB NVME PCIE gen 4 - Windows 11 (25H2)
January 11, 200818 yr Author UPDATE: The tearing looks to be resolved with Vertical Refresh...I notice that with TextureMaxLoad=100, the sim is really smooth, but Im getting allot of tearing on the screen.Bill Asus Tuf Gaming Plus B550 - Ryzen 7 5800X3D - Asus GeForce 4080 RTX OC Edition - 64GB DDR4 (3600Mhz) - EVGA 850W Power Supply - 2X 1 TB NVME PCIE gen 4 - Windows 11 (25H2)
January 11, 200818 yr Author I run FS9 for the time being.Bill Asus Tuf Gaming Plus B550 - Ryzen 7 5800X3D - Asus GeForce 4080 RTX OC Edition - 64GB DDR4 (3600Mhz) - EVGA 850W Power Supply - 2X 1 TB NVME PCIE gen 4 - Windows 11 (25H2)
January 11, 200818 yr That's what I was guessing..lolThat setting appears to longer be available in FSX.
January 12, 200818 yr Author Well, I have noticed that my sim runs alot smoother with it set to 100, however even with vertical refresh I get some tearing when banking and turning.Bill Asus Tuf Gaming Plus B550 - Ryzen 7 5800X3D - Asus GeForce 4080 RTX OC Edition - 64GB DDR4 (3600Mhz) - EVGA 850W Power Supply - 2X 1 TB NVME PCIE gen 4 - Windows 11 (25H2)
January 12, 200818 yr Hello Bill100 is way to high for your graphics card 8 or 10 may be better depending on what your TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT is set atThis is taken from Steve Lacey's Blog entry regarding Stutters.and describes the relationship between TextureMaxLoad + TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT + Frame Rate Lock"By default, the texture manager will upload a maximum number of texture's per frame. This is measured in bytes, and the default is the equivalent of three 256x256 textures with mips. The 'three' comes from a configuration variable you may not be familar with. This is TextureMaxLoad in the DISPLAY section. The default is three. This value is multiplied by the TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT configuration variable and divided by the target framerate only in the case where you have a target framerate set. With 'unlimited', the variable will have no effect. So, you can see that the value is a multiplier, rather than having any specific units."If your TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT is at the default of 40 and you lock your frames at 24, with a TextureMaxLoad of 100, you are asking the texture manager to upload:166 256x256 textures with mips per frame. Now that is a lot of textures to load each frame and probably why you are seeing tearing
January 12, 200818 yr Author Thanks for the info maddog...can you give me an example of what to use to lock at 30 frames?what should I have for:TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT = ?TextureMaxLoad = ?Frames locked at 30Thanks,Bill Asus Tuf Gaming Plus B550 - Ryzen 7 5800X3D - Asus GeForce 4080 RTX OC Edition - 64GB DDR4 (3600Mhz) - EVGA 850W Power Supply - 2X 1 TB NVME PCIE gen 4 - Windows 11 (25H2)
January 12, 200818 yr HelloIts different for every setup out there.Trial and error is the only way to goMore reading here:http://www.steve-lacey.com/blogarchives/20..._stutters.shtmlhttp://www.steve-lacey.com/blogarchives/20..._blurries.shtmlhttp://www.freewebs.com/reading1871/30.jpg
January 13, 200818 yr Author I guess I will play with some settings and see. I seem to get more stuttering from playing FS9 from when my computer was just turned on and FS9 was not used yet, like the textures are not in the memory. Thanks,Bill Asus Tuf Gaming Plus B550 - Ryzen 7 5800X3D - Asus GeForce 4080 RTX OC Edition - 64GB DDR4 (3600Mhz) - EVGA 850W Power Supply - 2X 1 TB NVME PCIE gen 4 - Windows 11 (25H2)
January 14, 200818 yr Author Hi, I just relized that my Texturemaxload was placed right under video card type entry in the config instead of under the display settings.Oops,Bill Asus Tuf Gaming Plus B550 - Ryzen 7 5800X3D - Asus GeForce 4080 RTX OC Edition - 64GB DDR4 (3600Mhz) - EVGA 850W Power Supply - 2X 1 TB NVME PCIE gen 4 - Windows 11 (25H2)
