Hi Mike; This such a great idea I'm sure glad you started it. I have been reading the posts with great intrest but due totime constraints have been unable to kick in my 2 cents worth till now. Well...here goes. Dennis Dunton, will turn 61 in June. Live in Owensville MO,USA..but I'm only "Home" about 5 days a month. I have two grown daughtersand two wonderful grandkids. (If I'd known how much fun they were I'dhave had them first.);-)My working life has been varied, and to me at least, never dull. The summer I graduated from Highschool I worked as a constructionlaborer, shoveling "Hot Mix" asphalt. Hardest physical labor I'veever done...went from 173lb to 142 in three weeks. At the end of the summer went to work for the Missouri State Highway Dept as a truckdriver/equipment operator. I have ,in my life, worked as an automotive/truckmechanic..electronics technician..welder..industrial electrician/troubleshooter..aircraft dispatcher..salesman...tractor trailer driver, and automotive machinist. I was assistant operations manager for a pretty good sized trucking company, and Vice Pres of Operations for another. I started an Auto Parts Wholesale and Engine rebuilding buisness which I operated for ten years, until I sold it in 1992. During this time I was elected as an Alderman to the City Council for two terms. My intrest in aviation goes back to my early childhood when I used to get paid a nickle by a couple of local pilots to round up some of my buddies, and on our bicycles, we'd keep the cows off the "Runway" while they took off and landed. One fella had a J3 but the other had a surplus T-6 and they would sometimes give us a ride for helping them....really good stuff for a six year old. While I was a teenager I worked in a "Ground Observer Corps" control center, andwas also in the Civil Air Patrol. I served in the USAF from 1966-1970. Was a Base Operations dispatcher at Offutt AFB Nebraska, also was NCOIC and "Chief Dispatcher" at Incirlik AB Turkey for over a year. Before discharge I was "Chief Dispatcher" at Richards-Gebaur AFB, Mo for about 90 days. After discharge worked on my PPL and I got through the Solo XC phase but never took the check ride as Marriage and Drag Racing kindof edged it out. Got over 40 hrs logged in a PA-28,and intend to go back to it as soon as I retire. Never got a degree but have had courses in electronics,Interstate Commerce Law,Interstate Commerce Rates and Tariffs,ICC Acounting procedures, "Advanced Analytical Troubleshooting", and 120 hrs of Fire Fighting...served on a Vol Fire Deptfor 10 years. After my divorce and the sale of my buisness I decided to go back to being a "Professional Tourist" and have never regreted it.I am currently employed as a "Line Haul" driver for Watkins Motor Lines. I pull double trailer rigs thru most of the lower 48 states, averaging around 3000 mi every 7 days. I have enough seniority to have a "Bid" run but I'd be bored to death. In the past month I'vebeen in K.C., Tulsa, OKC, Dallas, Austin, Harlingen,Omaha,Memphis,Salt Lake, Denver,Hartford, Harrisburg, Pittsburg,Cinncinatti, Chicago, and probably several I've forgotten. Been through a bunch more. In my driving I've logged over 2,500,000 miles and enjoyed it a great deal. Thanks to the Good Lord I've never had an accident. I intend to keep it up on a part time basis when I "retire" later this year. Just so I don't "Rust Up".:-lol Again thanks for starting this thread as I've sure enjoyed "Meeting" everyone...quite the diverse talented group. Denny...Professional Tourist "Coming to a city near you..SOON" :-wave
