October 23, 201015 yr I'm having the exact same problem as Emma. Anybody find a solution? Can't seem to input the west coordinates despite my best efforts.POS needs to be set up with engines OFF.MSU on STBY.Data Selector switch at POS.Press "N" (or "S"), then input FIVE numbers (eg 40013).... Press "INSERT" (the INSERT light remains lit)....Press "W" (or "E")... press SIX numbers (eg 107534 or 070123) Press INSERT (light should now go out).Turn MSU to ALIGNCommon problems are entering the co-ordinates incorrectly. If you use FS9 Shift-Z to show LAT and LON make sure you are reading the numbers correctly. For N or S you need to enter FIVE numbers. In my example above N40013 represents 40 degrees, 1 (01) minute, and 0.3 of a minute. W107534 represents 107 degrees, 53 minutes, and 0.4 of a minute. If you still have problems post on here EXACTLY the number sequence you are inputting in the INS for the W co-ordinates. Peter Schluter
October 23, 201015 yr Then, you need to enter the plane's position while the MSU is on standby, not align. Then you can align the INS after the position entry. Hope this helps.;)Incorrect!! you can set the MSU directly to align. And in fact if you look at the original Civa manuel and flight manuels of some a/c that used it e.g. VC10 it clearly states to set directly to align. The gauge works exactly as stated on the tin.vololiberista Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA
October 23, 201015 yr Here are a couple of examples of the exact key presses to input your Pos and Wpt co-ordinates.Firstly the INS only accepts the following format: Degs Mins Tenths of Mins. If converting from one format to another gives you a headache this utility in the avsim library is useful. <shift> Z in the sim will show the lat lon in the correct format.Example 1. N44* 31.9997' E7* 37.0003'click on key3 (N) then 44 then 319 then click on <insert>(once only!!! the light stays on)click on key6 (E) then 7 then 37 then 0 click on <insert> the light goes out.So the sequence is: N44319<insert>E7370<insert>Example 2. N51* 28.6500' W0* 27.6833'Here your key sequence is: N51287<insert>W0277<insert>The most common problem is pressing the <insert> key more than once after inputting the latitude.vololiberista Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA

October 25, 201015 yr there is a common pitfall on entering coordinates.. when you have for example 52.1.23 then enter as 52.01.23
October 26, 201015 yr there is a common pitfall on entering coordinates.. when you have for example 52.1.23 then enter as 52.01.23No full stops!!!! and only tenths of minutes. So, 52.1.23 is entered as N52012<insert>If the 23 was 25 or higher then round up the 2 to 3.vololiberista Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA

October 26, 201015 yr However DO NOT put a leading zero if for example your position is 01 north or south. Or e.g. 007 west or east. ONLY put a leading zero if e.g. you are at 0 east or west.vololiberista Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA
