Perhaps one could look at this way. She now has the valuable experience that was gained from this. I think the best experience is experience gained from doing something wrong or by having a poor outcome even when you thought you were doing it right. The only way to gain experience is by actually doing it. I would trust her much more now than before knowing she has this experience to draw from.
