I just merged level-d and captainsim with great success

Hi to all.As all of you know, what captain sim did to the 757 was a shame. I think that they spend 2 years on the visual model (its mind blowing!, just look at the default American repaint) and 1 week with the panel.I try to find a merge with the level-d panel, and cant find anything, so i did my own merge.After a week of testing i think its in good mod. I put parts of the default captain sim's panel (Animations panel, Cargo loader, yoke, Icons panel) into the leveld panel, so i can enjoy some of the eye-candy features of the captainsim while at the same time using the amazing level-d panel.i also leave the captainsim 757 vc untouch, so it has all the gauges. Nearly all of those vc gauges don't work(some work ok, like speed indicators, parking brakes, etc), they are there just to see. Is better than a dead cockpit without gauges, full of black holes. I think that this merge is the best of both worlds. The only thing that don't work in the panel is the pushback option, But all the other things works ok.Im tweaking the engine power right now, but i have a few questions...1) Maximun gross weight is the same as maximun takeoff weight?2) If they are not the same... Maximun gross weight is greather than maximun takeoff weight?3)A real aircraft can take off at maximun gross weight?4)If it can takeoff... How should a 757 behave when it takeoff at maximun gross weight? Does it feels like is struggling to go into the air? (Climbing at 1300 feets per minut or so), or is a powerfull takeoff?4)Anyone knows what is the maximun gross weight of the 757?When i can tweak the engine power my merge will be ready :)Thanks, and sorry foy my bad english. (max gross weight) - (taxi fuel) = max takeoff weightmax takeoff weight for 757-200 and 757-200F is 255,000lbs according to boeing (255,500lbs allowed for airports lower than 1,500' MSL)max takeoff weight for 757-300 is 272,500lbs according to boeingMax Taxi Weight (same as max gross weight) is 256,000lbs for 757-200 and -200F. Max Taxi Weight is not found in the boeing document I'm looking at, but it's safe to assume it's probably 273,500 or 274,000lbs.An airplane such as this could take off at max gross weight under most circumstances, but it'd be illegal. They're not allowed to. They are only allowed to take off at the maximum weight certified which is the MTOW.

Yes an aircraft can take off at gross weight which is more technically referred to as Max Gross Take Off Weight (MGTOW). The weight you are referring to is the Max Ramp Weight.

I don't speak english by>default.Short answer to your question:use the FDE off another 757...... there're few good ones floating around. Copy the appropriate aircraft.cfg entries and use the new .air file.Off topic... why do you even waste your time doing that? you will get the horrific performance of the 3d model that you won't use since you are using the 2d cockpit? It boggles the mind. waste of your $ buying that 757 to begin with if you didnt buy it for the VCJust use the posky model and have fun?

What about the PSS 757, that looks good to me. I got the PSS 777 and am very pleased with it. WXR and TCAS, crisp VC, absolutely excellent FMC!

PSS is out of business,but I believe you can purchase the 757 and 777 from Justflight.I have the original PSS 777.The weather radar is a licensed addon from a third party which I don't think can be transferred.I think you can purchase it separately, and follow instructions to install it in different aircraft. There is some discussion of weather radar in the Level D forums.Ron

Thanks for the information.If the LDS FMC works in the CS757, I am interested and will probably try to follow your steps. For that item alone, it would be worth the conversion to me as the CS FMC is virtually useless (along with a few other things IMHO). Regarding weights, each individual aircraft will have its own specifications due to what is included for the bird, (i.e. seating, avionics, etc.). However, most manufactures do specify default weights so if you are anywhere near those specs. you have probably not violated real world figures.With virtually all of my aircraft, immediately after installation I try to find credible specifications for the bird and edit the aircraft.cfg accordingly, along with my personal preferences relative to default loading.Usually a google search will give you the specifications for most aircraft from major manufacturer's websites. (i.e. Boeing 757).There are several other websites that will give you generic aircraft specfications. Depending upon what part of the world you are in and what form of numbers you use you may or may not need to do a few calculations (Liters to Gallons, kg to lbs. km to nmiles etc). Usually the figures are reasonably reliable although you may rarely find a glitch. Hi!Well, i have it fully functional now (FMC, lnav, vnav, autoland, etc etc) even with shockwave lights.As you know, the level-d panel and systems are very tied to his .air file and fuel/weight values. I tried to put real values for trust and weight but problems arise with the FMC. Now, i have it as close as i can to 757 performance without breaking the FMC. I also tried to land with one and two engines, manually and with autoland with success.Right now, the maximun takeoff weight that it uses is something like 350,000lb ( I know that this is not fully realistic, but is the lowest value that you can use without breaking the FMC).If i take off at that weight, i can rotate at 154 knots (fully compliant with the FMC values) and the aircraft will climb at a maximun rate of 2200fpm. when the aircraft reach 25,000 feets i need to reduce the rate of climb to 1400/1500 fpm in order to reach cruise altitude.I really like the "Heavy" feel when taxing at that weight!. Also, if i take off at empty weight it climbs really fast, like in this video:http://youtube.com/watch?v=r9DSXVceQKMIn an hour or so i will post the steps to reproduce the merge, maybe some of you will like to test it.

Ok, here is it. these are the steps to make the merge. These steps are for the freighter. I will explain the merge for the passenger version this night (When i arrive to my house) in this thread.Follow these simple steps:***************************************** Try this AT YOUR OWN RISK! ******************************************This is only for testing. WOW!!!I couldn't stand it and started to give her a try.Findings:1. I simply replaced the CS 757-200 panel folder with the LDS 767 panel folder.2. Copied the LDS 767 aircraft.cfg and air file into the CS 757 folder. 3. Deleted the 767 aircraft ID content and replaced them with the 757 Aircraft liveries (Windows 0-36 in the aircraft.cfg)4. Replaced the Contact and light sections in the new panel with the original 757 aircraft.cfg text.5. Renamed the replacement air file to the original CS 757 text.5. I then found that the spot view aircraft textures had become partial and corrupt. By a process of elimination, I found that the missing gauge 7 of the Icon window in the original 757 panel was the culprit. In my new panel config imported from the 767 for the CS 757 I added that window with ONLY that gauge and everything looks normal again. I don't really understand it, but it works The addition is as follows:Window17=Icon (top of panel.cfg)[Window17]size_mm=96, 256background_color=1,1,1position=6visible=1ident=12101gauge01=cs.icon!iExit, 0, 224, 32, 32For good measure, with the exception of the panel.cfg, copied the contents of the CS 757 panel folder into the replacement panel. I have not started to edit the dynamics yet. From the following sites, I will start to enter weights, capacities etc. and see what flies and what does not as indicated thanks to the original author of this thread. One odd thing I did not realize. In the Boeing site, the 757 is listed as "Out of Production". I did not realize that Boeing had ceased to build this bird. Hello Xender:I have not tried your config. yet. If I interpret correctly, you have a freighter configuration, while mine is for passengers. If I can figure out the only glitch I see so far, I will see if I can divide up my liveries and try your setup for a freighter. My only glitch at the moment that I see is that my flaps will not work. I will try and isolate that problem as my next step.I edited my original aircraft.cfg (imported from the LDS 767) for the spec. weights and capacities for the 757-200. My config. is for a passenger plane so is a little bit different. However, she seems to fly beautifully and JUST ABOUT everything works normally. The only things I have changed so far in the aircraft.cfg file is to edit for the correct 757 liveries, lights, contact points, weight and capacities and flaps. I cranked up a flight from KATL to KLAS and near as I can tell everything works beautifully with the exception of my flap problem (FMC programmed and controled YEAAAA!)The only odd thing is as you stated in your previous post, one has to fudge slightly for "GR WT" in the FMC PERF INIT entry. My weight was 252,870 lbs. The lowest setting the FMC would take was 255,000 lbs. but I am willing to cheat by less than 1% in order to have the features you have so kindly let us know about.When and if I get everything to play fair and am satisfied that I may not be misleading someone, I will post my panel and aircraft configs.Again, thanks for your kind contribution.RTH
