September 4, 200817 yr Because of issues like this Microsoft should have been operating a central data file registry at least as early as the introduction of Windows and probably when they started selling DOS on their label. I remember Apple was operating a central registry for the Apple IIgs, and suspect they would be doing the same for the Macintosh.
