June 17, 200718 yr Here are some preliminary results from the the American Southwest's Colorado plateau canyon country, utilizing TP Beta 5 and Y****! maps.I have DREAMED for years to be able to explore this region and it's stunning geology from air...not a "landclass/generic ground tiles" version...no matter how good...but the REAL THING. I have lived and studied in the region and know and love the geology well...but I've never seen it like this in FS! Thanks a million does not say enough Christian.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/173919.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/173923.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/173924.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/173925.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/173926.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/173927.jpg "We shall not cease from exploration... and the end of all our exploring... will be to arrive where we started... and know the place for the first time." - T. June 17, 200718 yr You know what, the default textures don't actually look bad near Mount Rainier. But then Yahoo is much better of course.
June 17, 200718 yr The Y! map source offers something we haven't seen with the other sources. Consistent true color coverage in large areas. Well... enjoy! ;)Beautiful shots. There are some more shots of the sand stone near Moab, Utah in one of the first pages of this thread (these are Google)
June 18, 200718 yr Yes , FSX textures looks good in every parks of US , but it's too generic and not very realistic .
June 20, 200718 yr Very nice screens (as always)! Thanks for searching and exploring interesting TP locations. Please keep posting these...
June 20, 200718 yr Just measured the Loa caldera, its 5.3 kms by 2.5 kms. Last time Loa blew its stack was in 1984. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mauna_LoaCheers WOZ
June 21, 200718 yr Beautiful shots! I was actually in Mauna Kea about two years ago. We drove up from sea level to the top where they have the observatory. At night, the sky is amazing. You need to aclimate for about an hour at a rest stop which is at about 9,000 feet before continuing up to the top at 13,600.-Pablo
June 21, 200718 yr I was curious to see how it would look at dusk and, I must say, it looks great!http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/174077.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/174078.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/174079.jpgMike
June 22, 200718 yr I used my technique of loading only hi res tiles mentioned below and made these compares of real shots -with the y server the realism has gone way up!http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...id=259696&page=http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
