January 4, 200917 yr so after about a week for playing around i finally determined the problem,my asus board came with a program called cpu level upit basically o/c's automatically and sets up saving features .I was oc 2.9/3.6 but cpuid showed 1.9the multiplier was held back and the temps were off sideSo i basically o/c manually to the same values but changed the multiplier manuallyMy system then ran at 2.9/3.6 and the temps were 48cI ran fsx and my frame rates for my trial set up incoreased 50%Something was wrong with the auto o/cit took quite a while to nail it down but im finally back in the skyPeterIf you had posted the CPUz tabs I requested earlier in the thread I would have seen that and we would have nailed this quickerI suspected this issue was the clock not remaining locked or improper clock settings after you removed one card and it remained the same

Either way, it's good you found your problem. Like I always say, the first thing I shut off when I set up a new board and plan to OC are any auto-oc or turbo settings. Bleh, who needs them.Glad you got your issue worked out. :) Ark -------------------------- I9 9900K @ 5ghz / 32GB G.Skill (Samsung B) / Aorus Master Mobo / EVGA GTX 2080Ti FTW 3

Bleh, who needs them.Glad you got your issue worked out. :)Thanks guys for your helpthe one thing the auto oc did was to somehow retard or underestimate the bclk speed. i think it does it to protect the voltage because it was reading a high voltage. I set the multiplier, bclk , voltage etc etc. Anyway it worked and im quite happy . But heres the amazing thing. even after of this and the o/cto 3600, my frame rates are better but not amazing.I can live with frames rates in the 20's in populated areas, so im happy for nowthanks againPeter
January 6, 200917 yr also is there a way to unistall aero other than to turn it off in personalization prefs or is that good enough.Unless your specs are ridiculously weak (which your specs are not), Vista Aero has no performance hit at all. This has been just one of the many misconceptions about Vista since it was released. January 6, 200917 yr Aero along with Defender, UAC and Indexing is flat out CPU and memory hog.. disable all of them and do not allow Vista to boot with them running to clear the system footprintThe only misconception about Vista is when people suggest it is not a PURE bloatware product
January 6, 200917 yr "Unless your specs are ridiculously weak (which your specs are not), Vista Aero has no performance hit at all. This has been just one of the many misconceptions about Vista since it was released." True story, as are most of these under-the-hood tweaks. In the old days, we - Had - to optimize ram users. Remember the battles with extended vs expanded memory? Trying to squeeze that mouse driver into the upper reaches so that precious 640K sweet spot could be available to Falcon 1? These were the days of 1-2M systems. No more. Unless a user is still dealing with a 1G 0 ram system, these tweaks are just not necessary. With a 486 CPU every CPU cycle - really did - count. But now days with core2Quads, the occasional service coming alive for a 1% nibble on a CPU resource would cause concern to only the most fundamentalist rocket science project bent on optimizing technical rather than real world performance. We've come a long way, baby. This is hobbiest stuff that nothing to do with FS performance.

January 6, 200917 yr Most of the misconceptions I see about Vista come from individuals who have no experience with the OS to begin with.I tested that OS for well over 6 months and I know what they did and did not do in the SP1 patch as well.I am aware when the sim is booted Aero is disabled however there is more to it than that when it comes to the feature. Would you like to me to explain so you may correctly understand why removing the footprint of Aero helps? or are you just going to do as usual and assume you know better with some silly website review statement as a backup?I have noticed many of your suggestions are based in a lot of personal preferences and have very little basis in well thought out technical criteria in assessmentIn that, I bow out from this pointless discussion
January 6, 200917 yr "Unless your specs are ridiculously weak (which your specs are not), Vista Aero has no performance hit at all. I turned off all my gui stuff with vista because I thought fsx didnt like windowed mode with aero? January 7, 200917 yr I run both window'd and full screen. Both run fine. Window'd does have a problem if I leave it maximized, but a resized window brings the FPS right back. I have 3 monitors, so I like to keep a Jepp chart (for approach), or G-earth follow along (for cruise) up on the 2nd and 3rd monitors. Sometimes though, full screen is fun. In FSX, that blacks-out the other two 19" monitors and full-screens the primary 40". For a dusk flight, the visuals are just amazing. At night, with all the room lights out, with just that 40" glowing a radiant twilight, Tweaksville seems far away. Really, isn't that the point?
