How to Increase Autogen?

Featured Replies

Everyone says this wont work but can anyone explain why my houses and other buildings have increased by 60% and trees by 40%?

Changing the autogen density through the config file will not work past the hard coded amount. However, the hard coded amount is 300 buildings + 600 trees per square kilometer which is actually quite a lot!

The amount displayed on a texture is defined by the annotation files (.agn). The default files do not really place that much autogen on a tile so using a different set like Silver Wings will increase the amount of autogen drastically!

Unfortunately most forest tiles only display default autogen - they are not allowed to be annotated. Doing so will occasionally display more trees on a tile but will as often as not also result in trees placed on airports!

The amount of autogen which can be displayed in FS9 is thus not as dense as in FSX but still quite satisfactory. Those autogen objects are displayed together both at day and night (lamps just do not shine in daytime), so you can see there are a lot of objects near the plane:

The real trick is to tweak your FS settings so that you won't notice the autogen disappearing in the distance ...

Hope this explains it.

Sascha
