March 20, 200917 yr Do you know a tool or a gauge that can allow me to know which rwy is currently in use by AI and RC at a particular airport (destination ifr airport) while inflight ? -Jerome "In thrust we trust"
March 20, 200917 yr Moderator Do you know a tool or a gauge that can allow me to know which rwy is currently in use by AI and RC at a particular airport (destination ifr airport) while inflight ?Jerome,Download the relevant FSUIPC version from here and extract TrafficLook. It shows the active runway(s) for both arriving and departing Ai. Another very useful utility from Pete Dowson. :( http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html Ray (Cheshire, England). March 21, 200917 yr Yes, but how it works. I can see only the list of all AI traffic around but not the runway they use :(
March 21, 200917 yr Moderator Yes, but how it works. I can see only the list of all AI traffic around but not the runway they use :(For Airborne traffic the runway used by the Ai is shown by the Rwy column. Once they're close enough to a landing runway it will show the designated landing runway.Using the Ground option you'll see the departure runway when they become alive. Make sure AutoRefresh is ticked. Ray (Cheshire, England). March 21, 200917 yr I remember reading somewhere that the landing runway for AI is determined only 60NM out, which causes some difficulty for ATC program(mer)s.
March 21, 200917 yr Moderator I remember reading somewhere that the landing runway for AI is determined only 60NM out, which causes some difficulty for ATC program(mer)s.I believe FSUIPC has a 40 mile Ai range. Arrival Wx in RC can be picked up around 75 miles out so that should give a good indication of the probable landing runway. In the real world the arrival wx is known before the aircraft departs and although it will possibly change enroute it should be enough to give a good indication of arrival wx.Once I'm 60-70 miles out and cleared down to FL110/FL120 I still have plenty of time to tune ATIS and program the FMC/CDU should a change of runway be required.
