Which callsigns are included? Is there a way to add/modify?

Recommended Posts

HIWhen I last looked into getting RC I enquired about the availability of callsigns (I suspected rightly that numerous were missing) and about a method to add/edit them (something like EditVoicePack for the default ATC). At the time, I found the list too short, missing many of the callsigns I use in AI traffic of flying myself.Hwoever, that was two or three years ago. In the meantime, things have changed. So what is the current list of callsigns? Is there a method to add callsigns in case there is one missing?I read through what RC can do, and I am VERY VERY tempted to install it for my FS9. Sounds like a really phantastic add-on. It is only missing callsigns that makes me hesitate.ThanksChris

Hi Chris,Since all the phrases that you hear in RC have to be recorded induvidually, the callsigns list has always needed to be capped. This also means it is not possible to include new callsigns between versions (unless you were to band together the original recorders and get them to record each new callsign).Currently there are a couple of thousand callsigns, but no doubt the list will have to be reduced before release. However, all callsigns requested by users will be retained. So if you have any particular ones you want included, you can post them here and we'll make sure it is there in v5.I'd very much recommend installing RC and giving it a go. Maybe the callsign list isn't as big as EditVoicePak but RC has many more important benifits over the default ATC :o) It is worth the change. If you'd like to see any particular callsigns in v5, let me know and I'll add them. Or if you have any other questions about RC or how it works, you can post them too and we'll try to answer them.Subs

Thanks for your kind message, which I really appreciate as it gives me good understanding of the logic behind the voice sets. Didn't exactly answer my question ("which callsigns are included" - I meant in the current version), but maybe there is another way I can find out. Or would there be something like a .xls or .doc file that you could PM me which has the callsigns?I have absolutely no doubt that RC is far superior to default ATC which is why I am so tempted by it and bother to re-ask the question. Sure, I can just try it out, but 44 USD just for trial-and-error (it's not the money, I'd be prepared to pay 400 USD if this did exactly what I want).Thinking very very radically, there could of course be another approach to the voice sets. Right now one of the big appeals of RC are the local accents and of course the many phrases that do not exist in default ATC. But the downside is missing callsigns. Why not do the following (this is radical, indeed):Produce one version of RC as you do it, with the newly recorded voices including the local accents. People that care for many different voices and local accents will go for this one. They win on variety of voices and local accents, but would lose on callsigns. Produce another version of RC where all phrases are patched together from the default ATC voices. The phrases can be constructed with EditVoicePack, and users would have access to all the callsigns that exist. Theses users would win on variety of callsigns, but would lose on variety of voices and local accents, and to some extent on the fluidity of those phrases that are patchwork from the default ATC.Upon installation, people then choose between one of these two options according to their preferences (for variety of callsigns or of voices/local accents/fluidity of new phrases).Given that the option with recorded voices takes much more effort to produce (and I laud the producer team to have made that effort!) adding the "synthetically patched" option built from default ATC voices would not require that much more work. And even if it does, personally I'd be happy to pay more for RC if I could have access to all the callsigns that I needed.ChrisPS: you asked for callsigns that should by all means be included. Well, without listing them all, you should make sure that all of the airlines published by World of AI are included. WoAI is now a major source for AI traffic that many people use, and new EVP files are published whenever a new airlines comes out.

No, Subs, the new NAME of "SN Brussels Airlines" is "Brussels Airlines". Its new CALL SIGN is "bee-line". This call sign is already in V4 and V5 as the call sign of the old British European Airways.Pete

Ther is another way, however:You can mix new callsigns from the existing voices. A little like you can do with the Edit Voice Pack utility.I did that as I had this stupid problem of finding out which Airliner I should be flying each flight I was up to.I just made my own Ailiner with my own callsign WHITE TAIL. On rainy days when I was in the mood I have been making my own color scheme for my Airliner to those planes I usually go flying with. Quite fun doing this actually.(Individual interests of course :( )How I did this.I imported for every voice set the two existing call signs White Wings and S_tail to Windows movie Maker ( every PC has this program with MSWindows). Then I patched and re-mixed them and saved the new file I called WHITE TAIL. First time I did this it took some time, but when finished for all voice sets and having added WHITE TAIL to the script folder as well as adjusting the Excelle file c4 using Note Pad to include my new Airliner, RC recognizes me as WHITE TAIL, just nicely pronounced by all local voices. After Meatwater provided us with the new more radio like voice sets based on the original RC voices I had to carry out the same process once more. This time it was quickly made as I found a more structured way of working with the sound sets and re-mixing them.If you find many call signs to be missing in RC then my way of doing this will perhaps be too time consuming. However, it's possible.Regardless of missing call signs I am in no doubt that RC add so much more reality to the sim that I recommend you to install it. Those who allready have the version 4 will be granted a reduced price when buying the new version 5, so it's no reason to wait installing this great product.Carl
