Freeze Temp

Featured Replies

Is there away to completely disable the fuel from freezing up, I set my freeze temp to -58C (as high as it will go) in the fmc but still due to the unpredictability of any weather engine I use I get temps like -80 or -90C at FL330 and then have to drop down to fl250 to get the old engines going again, I know this is not really a PMDG problem but I would like to see an option if possible to raise the freeze temp in the fmc to something crazy like -100C or an option to disable the fuel freeze altogether.Until someone comes out with a Weather engine that works.

Are upper troposphere temps like -80degC possible in the real world? I am asking the question out of genuine interest.(As an aside, I usually see temps of -50degC at altitude)

Might be wrong here but I'm pretty sure I read something about very low temps and/or pressures to be a known issue with FSINN.Might be worth disabling FSINN weather.John Ellison

I think the standard temperature at the troposphere is -60C... that is from memory but the laspe rate may result in a lower temperature over the equator according to someone with a brain teaser here about six months ago.

This goes way back to 2001 or 2002. I flew Emb-145's and the number in the manual was -64C if memory serves correctly. Never will forget this: It was in January and it was really cold (LGA to IND with Chautauqua)...Had to ask ATC for lower altitude, FL380 to FL360, so once FL360 was obtained the number was -62C and we were good to go for the duration.I am fairly certain the numbers above are correct - All from memory. To this day it is still wierd to think that it is colder over the equator.brando
