After reading the replies to earlier topics about this same issure I have decideced to buy a computer which meet the needs of FSX.I think this will be enough to get a stable FSX.I have decided it may be beter to have a computer built even though it is aprox 500 euros more than a ready made HP.I can getVista Home Premium. I think you are building a nice system, especially if you can overclock the CPU to 3.0 GHz or so.The joystick may or may not work, depending on the connector. If it is USB you should be OK,if it is Gameport... not so... I still have a very nice CH flightstick sitting in a box, gathering dust.Maybe time to consider an even nicer CH Flight Sim USB yoke :(

Personally I would never use or build a PC with only one disk drive (spindle) for many reasons so I would add another Disk Drive to your intended PC and then install FSX in its own partition on it. This will reduce the possibility of head contention when running FSX it is also useful if you place all your documents including pictures and mail on the second spindle. If you ever have to rebuild or recover your systems partition (C: drive) you won't lose upgrades or your latest documents. You could also use a partition on the second drive to back up your systems partition and a partition on your Systems drive to back up your FSX and documents. Ask yourself the question "If I only have one disk drive and it fails what is my contingency plan". :(

While I personally like reading about hardware configurations, this is not the place for it. There is a hardware forum for it and a sticky in this forum advising not to post hardware post in the FSX forum, but more and more people lately ignore it and post here anyway. Please don't reply to these people here other than advising them to post in the hardware forum. Doing so only encourages more to post hardware questions here.
