May 7, 200917 yr Thanks to everyone who jumped in (to help) on my last post "... poor climb performance... TAT reading somewhere around +54C at FL350... red-lining the turbines... JUST to maintain speed at altitude..."Really! I believe the problem has been solved! :( :( :( I'm a (teenie weenie) bit lighter in the pocket since installing the 'other' weather program - AND - completely shutting down the problematic engine.I'm presently enroute from KEWR-SBGL and am climbing through FL350 on my way up to FL370. Not once were the turbines red-zoned. The FMS managed the climb... like it should. Other than some (WILDLY) swing winds of 36kts in force, it has been a realistic simFLIGHT.The TAT is reading -19C... which is pretty realistic for FL350+? Even in CLB power mode, I think the GE's have a lot of reserve.Bottom line... I'm smiling. Thanks in bunches guys for your assist. Now I can really ( I mean really ) enjoy the big bird. That takes care of that issue. Now, if someone can just explain why when I load the sim, I get 'docked' windows... three of them... which I have to manually UN-DOCK and manually stretch to fit my Viewsonic 26" F/P Wide Screen... and make height/width adjustments to the glare shield component, I'll be as 'Happy as a pig in slop'.I an additional plane in my VA's colors. All passenger and freighter variants (aircraft.cfg file) - including my VA's passenger sim have the Panel=WideScreen entry. And... "Yes"... I've done all of the Load Manager iterations...Still, I've only had the sim load up ONCE... where everything looked normal. The docked panels all look like they belong to - OR - are sized for, perhaps, a 17" traditional CRT.Also, when this happens, even trying to load a panel state... the selection box is empty or looks like the graphics just didn't want to make it... or there is NOTHING to pick from... quite puzzling.C'mon guys. I know you have the answer to this as well.Cheers,Keith H70 Liquid Cooling - GTX760 2Gb - 240Gb SSD w/Win7 Ultimate 64bit - Western Digital VelociRaptors w/FSX-Accel - FSGRW Engine - FPS Limiter v0.2 (30+fps)
May 7, 200917 yr Now, if someone can just explain why when I load the sim, I get 'docked' windows... three of them... which I have to manually UN-DOCK and manually stretch to fit my Viewsonic 26" F/P Wide Screen... and make height/width adjustments to the glare shield component, I'll be as 'Happy as a pig in slop'.The simple fix is to make sure that FS starts in a 2d panel view rather than the VC or outside view. If you still get this problem then all I do is go into the aircraft menu and choose and load the plane again, 9 time out of 10 it will load perfect the second time. This should only be an issue with the FS9 version which is actually caused by the way the sim works. Cheers, Andy.

May 7, 200917 yr OK, burning to know which "other" weather programme you installed...I am just about to start on the long road to installing FSX on my system... AndrewI've been running ASX exclusively and with the latest service pack, I'ave had no winds issues on 4000+nm legs. Early builds of ASX were a nightmare though. I probably was the initial report of these issues to the dev team during beta...

May 7, 200917 yr Author Hey guys... no secret... the "other' weather engine is Active Sky. I will repeat the advice given here and elsewhere... "Completely shut down the FSInn weather engine"! You'll be happy you did.Cheers...Keith H70 Liquid Cooling - GTX760 2Gb - 240Gb SSD w/Win7 Ultimate 64bit - Western Digital VelociRaptors w/FSX-Accel - FSGRW Engine - FPS Limiter v0.2 (30+fps)
May 7, 200917 yr Author Hey AndyDigital - Thanks for helping out. I almost NEVER sim in the VC. It's great for making screen captures and such... but not very realistic IMO.I must have something quite unusual about either my install or my hardware or... who knows...After that 1st time I loaded the sim - it was in its default state then - I've never been able to load it again without having to manually adjust/stretch/undock these three windows. Here's what I get...1) a background for the location I last saved the flight - OR - the "Save as default"2) the panel - which, when resized/stretched manually - occupies the entire 26" screen3) the glare shield - which must also be undocked and stretched4) then, there is this funky 'lil guy called "Dummy". This is actually (or appears to be) the view outside the cockpit from the captain's seatFor now, I'm just doing the manual thing as I mentioned above. But, this can't be the way the designers meant for it to work.I'm sure someone (else) may have a step by step (for Dummies) approach to solving this. Here's to looking for this last FIX...Cheers,Keith H70 Liquid Cooling - GTX760 2Gb - 240Gb SSD w/Win7 Ultimate 64bit - Western Digital VelociRaptors w/FSX-Accel - FSGRW Engine - FPS Limiter v0.2 (30+fps)
May 7, 200917 yr Once you have all the windows in the correct place/size save the flight and make it the default. Then load the default Cessna and save the flight again and make it the default flight again. Exit the sim and restart, load up the default flight and then switch to the MD-11, hopefully it will be back to normal. Cheers, Andy.
