Made new AFCAD airport where are the planes?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,I am having a weird problem and don't know why.I wanted to see make sure all my AI planes were properly installed and fix the ones i might have installed wrong. So i figured I would create an airport and put as many parking spots as repaints i have (1556 repaints)I created my traffic files, with AC# going from 1 to 1557 and also my flightplans file taking care of all aircraft. In the Airports file, I put the created airport "CMBP" with the exact data of what I put in AFCAD 2.21.I made a flatten and exlcude in SBuild and that worked fine.Made my AFCAD file, created 3 runways, apron, taxi links.Started by making 63 Heavy Gates. Assigned them to airlines.2 x HYD for Hydro Quebec,4 x AAY for Alliance Airlines31 x ACA for Air Canada26 x AAL for American AirlinesWhenever I go into FS2004, I expect to see the aircraft at their assigned gates but no airplanes are to be seen. What may i have forgotten?Marc

It may seem obvious but did you compile? Did you get any error messages? Try unassigning some gates and see if those get populated. Just leave them as 'open' gates which can be used by any aircraft. John

Yes I compiled with AFCAD, no error message, file is in the proper directory. Tried putting unassigned gates, still no planes. It's weird because my 1556 planes work as I have been using them in FS2004 and FSX, I see planes for all 4 mentionned airlines in the game. For some reason, no planes are showing at my CMBP airport....

I was under the impression that only 255 max parking spots with airline codes was directly supported. AFCAD can create more but their operation in the sim is not known.scott s..

255 parking spots is possible but i'm not even there yet. I made 65 parking spots to test out the first 4 airlines. Hydro-Quebec, Air Canada, Allegiant and American Airlines. So only 65 spots and no planes showing up.I am boggled

But did you compile with TTools? AFCAD just makes the airport, it does not program AI planes and flightplans. For that you need TTools for FS2004. If you have done this, do a search for the file under which AFCAD saved your new airport - AF2_CMBP.bgl. It should be in your \....\Addon Scenery\scenery folder. Also, which folder did your Ttools compile to? The modified traffic.bgl which it will generate should be in \....\Scenery\World\scenery under Traffic030528.bgl unless you have assigned a different filename. If you are not sure, check the date on which your Traffic030528.bgl was last modified. If this was not recent then you are doing something wrong with Ttools.

Hi Yes I did compile with TTools. Here is an overview of what is what...In my CMPB\Scenery folder- CMBPFlatten.bgl compiled with SBuild and it works (see it affect the terrain in FS)- CMBPExclude.bgl compiled with SBuild and it works (see it clear terrian in FS)- CMBPGrass.bgl compiled with SBuild and it works (put grass as bottom layer and we see it in FS)- AF2_CMBP.bgl compiled with AFCAD and it works, I see the runways, apron, parking spots, taxiways etc.In my Scenery\World\Scenery folder:- TrafficCMBP.bgl compiled with TTools- In the airports.txt file, I used the same coordinates and altitude as in the properties menu in AFCAD.- I added the scenery folder CMBP in FS2004 so that's not the problem.- Made sure there were no spaces in my trafficl filename, it's trafficCMBP.bgl.- The airport is recognized in FS2004 as I can select it in the menu and start at any of the 3 runways i created or any of the gates.- In the aircraft.txt I have something like 65 aircraft from 4 airlines and all aircraft have proper parking codes ACA, AAH, AAY and AAL (I didn't want to do all 1555 planes at once and troubleshoot more possibilities)- In the flightplans.txt my flights corresponds to same AC# as in aircraft.txt-I know these planes work normally because for over a year now I have been flying with all 160 AI airlines that I installed. I have seen airplanes from all these airlines when I fly. I just wanted to create this airport to find the few airplanes where I might have made a mistake in the texture or something. I know there is no mistake in the spelling of the aircraft names between the aircraft.cfg and the aircraft.txt files as I copied and pasted them from the original working 160 AI Flightplans I had installed.- I even put one of each type of parking and did not assign any parking codes to them to see if a plane would magically appear but no luck.- I temporarily took out the other 160 AI flightplans not to confuse everything.- traffic030528.bgl has been removed long ago, it's one of the first files i remove when I install fs2004.I just don't get it. I installed 160 AI airlines, textures etc, they all worked. I try creating an airport and using these airplanes but they dont show up and every file is where it's supposed to be.I have tried going every possibility but ran out of ideas as to what it could be........Can't wait for someone to find the answer. I want to get this done and over with and have the peace of mind that all my installed aircraft is visible(I know one of my FedEx is installed wrong all i see is the wings and tail.)

I've read that you shouldn't do this - you should leave this .bgl even if there is only one flight in it. I've dozens of traffic.bgl files but I've kept the default one with only a few flights in it. Do your aircraft land but not park? Have you checked, and re-checked, and re-checked again, that the airport coordinates in AFCAD and in your Ttools airport file match exactly? Try setting your flightplan AI percentage to 1%, yes 1%. Check that the flightplans are properly written - I know it sounds daft but it is very easy to get a comma in the wrong place or use CBMP instead of CMBP by mistake. Most of us have done this kind of thing so it's worth checking assuming that you've got it wrong, not that you've got it right. If you see what I mean. In fact you have done just this! You have CMPB one place here and CMBP after.
in my CMPB\Scenery folder- CMBPFlatten.bgl compiled with SBuild and it works (see it affect the terrain in FS)- CMBPExclude.bgl compiled with SBuild and it works (see it clear terrian in FS)- CMBPGrass.bgl compiled with SBuild and it works (put grass as bottom layer and we see it in FS)- AF2_CMBP.bgl compiled with AFCAD and it works, I see the runways, apron, parking spots, taxiways etc.

Recommend going to fsdeveloper.com and asking.Too bad Aircraft Container Manager is no longer available. It is the best tool for checking aircraft installs. AI Traffic Manager does a good job of checking aircraft too, but more for AI compatibility, not textures or performance. Abacus FSRepaint will show you textures on aircraft in demo version.scott s..

Hi,When you made the flightplan did you use local time or GMT time. You need to use GMT and not local. I had some AI not showing up and discovered I used local time. You need to convert from GMT to local to be able to see the aircraft at the time you want.Hope this helps.Alan
