June 14, 200916 yr This is not a complaint but rather an inquiry. When I load FSX I sometimes get a nearly instant load. This is with PMDG or Level D. This is not loading the same airport over and over, which in the past has seemed to make load times better. This is a relatively fresh install so I wonder if that has anything to do with it. I often collect a lot of stuff I don't need and this seems to affect the loading times. I am no expert so if anyone can chime into why this happens that would be great, thanks guys. Mike Keigley
June 14, 200916 yr Wierd, I just had the same thing happen the other day. Different sessions, different aircraft, different airports, even so, insta-load. Just go from Free Flight screen right to the cockpit without seeing the progress bar at all. It happened two or three times, and then it went back to normal. Jeff ShylukSenior Staff ReviewerAVSIM

Jeff ShylukSenior Staff ReviewerAVSIMThat is what is so strange about it. There is no consistency to the "phenomena". It is good to hear that someone else also has the same issue. It would be nice if it happened all the time. So my question is; when I am loading FSDreamteam's scenery and a complex addon like PMDG, UT, GEX and UT2 and ASA all at once why does it happen sometimes and other times take forever? Ah, the mysteries of the universe, just can not be explained, unless someone out there with a vast amount of expertise could help us out? Mike Keigley
June 14, 200916 yr I you leave the sim at the page with the fly now button on it FSX will be loading the session in the background (pre-loading) if you leave it there long enough when you finally come to press the fly now button it will seem as if the flight loads instantly. Cheers, Andy.

The one issue I have with this explanation is that this morning when it happened to me again. I simply loaded the flight as is after creating it and it loaded instantly. I will have to confirm this given I can not verify how long I left it. I believe it loaded it instantly. I can not check right now as I am enjoying my day off with a KJFK-LEMD flight. :( Mike Keigley
June 14, 200916 yr Commercial Member I have had it happen to me as well, but have no insight as to why!!! It was nice though, as you say, shame it does not happen more often!!
June 14, 200916 yr It's true (I think ,anyway) that if you leave the FLY NOW button for a couple of minutes, the sim will pre-load, as long as you stay with the same settings that are on the screen. If you change anything and then hit FLY NOW, you don't get a fast load. I've done that a few times as well. I'm not totally certain about all of this because I'm not in the habit of always paying attention to the load screen. Sometimes I ignore it on purpose. However, this seems different from the insta-load where I just boot up and there I go. Maybe I am imagining it, though, as seems like a close match to just delaying FLY NOW. Ah, well.Jeff ShylukSenior Staff ReviewerAVSIM
