unknown problem

Featured Replies

hi, i experienced a weird issue with the PMDG 744 Xi was on a route from heathrow to hong kong, and about ten minutes after departure i was flying at 25000 feet with LNAV and VNAVafter passing this altitude the autopilot began rolling to the left surpassing the maximum bank angle (i heard the warning sign "bank angle), without following the route wich was a straight linei disengaged the autopilot and with manual control i leveled again the plane, but as soon i took my hand off the joystick the airplane rolled again to the lefti checked the IRS and the trims, all normal, i also thought about a weight problem, but looking at the fuel planning tables in your manual, my planned altitude was acceptable with my weight (i took off almost at MTOW)can somebody help me??Giulio Dondi from Italy

Jean, that's a nice motherboard you have.I can only point you in the direction of looking at weather effects. The default MSFS wx plays havoc with the pmdg aircraft. ASA tried to fix it but is still working on it... most success is found using registered copy of FSUIPC and letting it smooth the winds (and temps and pressures because these vary unnaturally too) in various combinations that work best for you.If you search the forum for wind shifts you will get years of complaints.Hope this helps a little.

I just wanted to mention that I had the same type of problems and it was a result of ASA. Restarting ASA fixed the problem for me.Noah B.

I also recommend if you have the registered version of FSUIPC turn on all wx smoothing including barometric pressure. Also turn on all smoothing in ASA. I have tested and have only experienced the problem while ASA is running. This includes the latest beta version of ASA. The smoothing functions diminished but did not completely fix the problem. But it did reduce the effect to the point that the autopilot could handle the issue.

Giulio, it is exactly the FS wx engine that is the problem, and the biggest challenge for HiFi Simulation (ASX, ASA) is to try to overcome the FS wx engine faults. It will happen with default wx because that is the source of the problem. The only weather scheme that eliminates the problem is flying with clear weather (no weather) but that is a bummer... registered FSUIPC smoothing works best even with the Hi Fi add-ons.
