Whats Going On Here All of a Sudden.......

Featured Replies

Okay i have just started a flight at Gatwick in my Overland A330-300, Now instantly i had no textures, every thing inside the cockpit on this particular model was Grey, I tested my other A330-200 and all was fine with it no grey textures, then about 2mins in FS9 Crashed. I have started it again and picked another aircraft and airport and once in the air, things got very jumpy and i noticed textures below were messed up (Vienna)I have looked at the Aircraft.CFG settings for the A330-300 and all seems to be in order. I have had no problems ever and i am quite a good user when it comes to A/C Cfg settings and spotting problems but i really cant figure out why all of a sudden my FS9 is crashing especially viewing sideways. I have noticed on all my A/C, AS BAE146, Overland, Project Airbus... i have NO number digits as you see below in the picture:vc-1.jpgAnd when FS9 crashes i get the FLIGHT SIMULATOR 9.0 etc etc etc Automatic restart option...... I have FS9.1!!!shouldnt this say Restart FLIGHT SIMULATOR 9.1????TO MANY PROBLEMS ALL OF A SUDDEN!!!!!Last changes made...Have been purchase of KLAS from FS Dreamteam, BAE146 Addon from Aerosoft and thats it and there were no problems once i added those a few days ago!

I'd run a system restore to a time everything was fine first. You never have to reinstall FS9. Rename your FS9 folder and reinstall the program which recreates the original folder name. Gradually put things back in until you nail down the problem. You never should wipe away everything clean, that's crazy. Do what I stated running the FS9 patch first then put things back carefully until you nail down the issue. There's most likely an easy answer somewhere waiting for you to find it without the reinstalling headache. You really get to know FS when you have to solve problems like this...

"You never have to reinstall FS9"You sure? I've far too often seen how a bloated FS9 crahes and burns. It's the same with my installation of FS9 right now: excessive amounts of addons make the sim unstable until it refuses to work proparly: loss of FPS, texture problems, flight loading problems, I've seen it happen before, first to other people, now it happens to me. I'm not reinstalling as yet, though. I'll do that only when I get Windows 7 and can get rid of Vista.

How big is to big? I have a 50GB install and growing and I have not had any problems outside of longer loading times (I can deal with that really).

Hello,Almost 100 GB on my biggest install (I have 3 differents on different HD's) .. all run perfect ... and long loading time of course ... :)Regards.bye.gifGus.

100 GB O_OOkay, Mine's probably 20 GB. Although, come to think of it, the erratic behavior I experience may well be Vista's fault, that godforsaken OS.

Part of your problem right there is 'Vista'... I've had every version since FS4 back in 1988 and have never had to totally reinstall Flight Simulator destroying everything I had installed. With a little work one can always find the problem. Everything from a corrupt or incompatible .MDL file to a bad texture file can be found with a little time in. With as long as I've been using FS some problems become common place and you just know what to look for. You also know what to stay away from like 'Vista'. Windows 7 looks promising but Vista like FSX was/is a compounded problem. My XP/FS9 installation is rock solid. So looking at my post count, the fact FS has gotten me flying for real, and the simple fact I used this program in it's many incarnations over the years (you have to take my word on that one) should tell you I know a little about what I'm talking about. All I was trying to do above was give a little advice and it's up to him or anyone to take it. Like what was posted in another thread add-ons like Flight1's products will need to get reinstalled in order for them to work properly but outside of that most of your original installation is safe. The biggest thing you don't want to loose is your texture directory as that determines how the sim looks. If you have custom textures you don't want to loose that. But like I said it's up to you to listen or not. If your having problems just ask here and/or dig in and figure it out. FS is one program that's easy to get in and figure things out. Just think, 'there has to be a logical solution' and usually that start you off on the right path to solving the problem.

I have been using Vista for a couple of years now. Outside of a couple of crashes, I have not once had a compatibility problem hardware wise or software wise until just recently when I tried nVidia's nTune and Preformance Monitor where I got BSODs on my Vista 64 install on my almost new PC. Fact is, I have crashed every OS install on every PC I have owned over the last 9 years, but only when I have tried something it didn't like (though 98SE did have plenty of BSODs and crashes, especially while gaming). I have had fewer problems with OSes based on the NT kernal (of which Vista is based on).

dilloll0: Really, you don't need to get defensive about it, and you certainly don't need to give reasons why I can trust you. Since you are a DF tester, I think that says enough to know that you know what you are talking about. I only told you what I heard people say, and what my own experience is. That experience is that FS2004 makes errors when loading flights (the wrong aircraft is loaded), and occasionally I get CTDs. I'll be honest that I myself never really knew what caused it, but I defaulted to blaming it on a bloated FS install, with a lot of files that remained after deinstalling addons, reinstalling addons and whatnot, and so I guess there are a lot of unnecesary files stuck in that FS2004 directory. Come to think of it, I got most of these problems only when I got Vista, and so I'm now inclined to blame Vista instead of FS2004.
