Looking for better lightning

Since the library here is down I searched flightsim.com but didn't see anything for FSX. Any suggestions for a better lightning texture replacement would be appreciated.Regards

Hi,I got the lightning bug a few months ago and found out a few things. Firstly, FS9 lightning works in FSX, but....lightning doesnt work properly in FSX :( if you look carefully when theres a storm, the only bolts that you see are ones off in the distance, the reason for this is that if theres a cloud texture behind the lightning texture, the lightning texture dissappears. In the distance the cloud textures are different so the lightning doesnt dissappear. Its a 'line of sight' thing.I tried everything to fix it, different cloud texture format, different lightning texture format and different settingswithin the .fx files themselves. No good.I wonder if the VC windshield rain effects were ommited for the same reason. :( Anyway, try some FS9 ones.David RanieriSydney, AU.

REX has got nice lightning, V2.0 iso on the way, shoud be any time now.

As I recall, X graphics has that option, along with loads of others

Yes X Graphics does!

Should have been in the North West of England this afternoon if you wanted cool lightning, there was an amazing thunderstorm here - the house over the road from me got struck! Dave, (my German Shepherd dog) was very frightened.I second REX thunder and lightning storms, they are amazing, and you get a choice of a few different lightning colours, from purplish to blue.Al

I had to go back and look, X Grapics is one of those 'set and forget' programs I use, and I had forgot all the options available. For the money it's one of the best programs ever designed for FSX.I especially like the runway textures etc and the lights and sounds options.

Thanks for the info guys. Since lightning was all I was after I guess I will try the FS9 freeware versions. I already have FEX and ASA, so I doubt I will be buying X Graphics or REX to get the other textures or weather generation. Glad to know that some things from FS9 will work in FSX.Regards
