July 27, 200916 yr Hi all,Fantastic forum as always. Just wondering if anyone has come across my problem to now, and what the fixes are if any yet?I recently downloaded the latest pre release version of Windows 7 and installed it (I work in the IT industry so need to keep up with the new products - thought I'd try this out). But coming across something I cannot for the life of me, get my head around.Whenever I have tried to install FSX on my build the whole OS simply hangs, crashes and needs a hard reboot. Then it hangs more and is very slow to to start up. Wanting safe mode and repair options etc.I've read some posts on other sites (after a lot of searching) that say Windows 7 administrator logons are heavily restricted and locked down compared to the likes of XP and Vista.Has anyone got FSX successfully installed? If so what did you do specifically to get it to even start an install? As mine won't even get past go let alone to a few first choices.Would really appreciate some assistance here. thanks,David David Stewart, Dianella, Western Australia. I used the 64 bit version, and it really was worth the change from Vista -- smoother all round and Win7 found all my hardware and installed all the drivers. Perfect! I was very impressed.I've read some posts on other sites (after a lot of searching) that say Windows 7 administrator logons are heavily restricted and locked down compared to the likes of XP and Vista.Really? I've never seen anyone say that. I find it much more relaxed and reasonable after Vista, which I thought was well over the top.Has anyone got FSX successfully installed? Just installed from the DVD, ran it to be sure it was okay, then applied Acceleration from its DVD. Mind you, I always install FS on a separate drive, not on the System drive. Even if you only have the one I'd strongly recommend installing it OUTSIDE the Program Files folder, which is still a restricted zone for non-vista aware add-ons. Som place simple like C:\FSX or D:\FSX is always attractive.RegardsPete Win10: 22H2 19045.2728 CPU: 9900KS at 5.5GHz Memory: 32Gb at 3800 MHz. July 27, 200916 yr Commercial Member What build of Win7 are you running? It's the Release Candidate (7100), but I did update from the previous Beta (7000), so my FSX install was on 7000. I'll be installing on 7100 direct in a couple of weeks when a new PC arrives. RegardsPete Win10: 22H2 19045.2728 CPU: 9900KS at 5.5GHz Memory: 32Gb at 3800 MHz. August 4, 200916 yr Same problem here but different case. I managed to successfully install FSX on Win 7 RC 7100, but after a period of flying, I got FSX randomly crash and restart itself.I'm using 32 bit version, my system is Intel core2 E4500, 4 GB RAM, FSUIPC 4.9 (? but latest from Dawson's site), Saitek pro flight yoke, and nVidia 8800 GT.Any clue anyone?
