Random Failures Program?

Featured Replies

I am looking for a failures program which would use something like the x-plane failure system. In XP you can set the mean time in which random failures may occur, such as 1000 hours. I am not sure if there is any program like this so if there is, please enlighten me. :( I know that you can set random failures up in the flight setup screen but that's really not what I am looking for.Cameron

Used to be one for FS9 called Reliability Factor. It's not available anymore as far as I know. Not sure if anything purely for random failures has been done for FSX...

My 8800 GTX graphics card introduces random failiures so realistic, not just the plane crashes but the whole computer as well. As a bonus, random failiures are permanently enabled even when FSX is not running. Seriously, though, I can think of a couple of payware solutions, FSPax, and FS FlyingSchool. Plus, I think you can set up random failures in Missions (you need to make your own custom Mission for that, though), but then you aren't in Free Flight mode anymore. There is a InFlight Emergencies but it simulates only a few failures...I was unable to find a better one.FSpassX does a failure at the beginning or at the end of flight only

Yes but the real plane does that too, my pilot friend told me.FSPassengers does a good job, it's quite creative despite FS limitations. I've had:- engine trouble before takeoff, oops I didn't notice.- engine failure- pressurization failure- gear stuck- flaps stuck- fuel leaks- electrical failures complete with sparks and arcing noises! That's just some.Unfortunately since it's using the FS failure modes you can't counter say an electrical problem by splitting the bus on an advanced addon craft. However, you can switch off the nav lights for instance that was causing the problem.

I used to fly with FSPax all the time, but find that its failiures were waaaay to common. I always seemd to have a gear stuck and had to slam the plane down to lock it down. It does have some cool engine failiures that you have to recognize when you powerup for takeoff or the engine will fail shortly after takeoff, but I find FSPax to be very unforgiving in certain situations. Its threshold for breaking the landing gear, or the flaps, is not correct imo, and using it with advanced aircraft becomes a problem because FSpassengers has a bad weight loader (which can be turned off however) and always yells at you when you try to mess with fuel, so flying with TOPCAT, LD4, or FS2Crew is not very easy because you have to follow a very strange but specific order other wise a screen will pop up and yell at you (and the popup screen is full screen, so if you have some problems with blackscreen lockouts, FSPax popup screens will always spell doom to your flight.)
