J41 Framerates vs Flight1 Mustang Framerates

Featured Replies

Just curious if any of the beta testers also have the Flight 1 Mustang and if so can you compare the framerates and performance between the two. Right now I can get 130 fps in the default Maule yet in the Mustang VC I get 13-20 fps (still 40-50 fps in the exterior view though). Obviously every system is different but a comparison to the Mustang would give some reference.

David, haven't had the time yet to fly the JS41. What I can say is this: On my system the MD-11 gives me more frames compared to the Mustang. And the JS41 is better than the MD-11 regarding frames (so others said). So in the end you will indeed get your framerate improvement.Regards,Markus

David,I was a beta tester for the Mustang and now for the J41. I'm seeing frame rates on the J41 average about 10% higher than on the Mustang, with a Q6600 processor, nVidia 8500GT video card, and 4 GB RAM. (Yes, I'd upgrade to an 8800GT video board if my HP Pavillion would support it.)Frame rates are not the whole story, though -- the J41 is unbelievably smooth.

Thanks Kurt, sounds good. Also will there be a VC Only option with no cabin? I wish that option was present with the Mustang.

David V

David,Yes. They're offering several choices in the configurator that will further optimize the model and boost frames.

Ah but then the Mustang has got a toilet seat lol - still beats me why it's got all that drink storage in the cupboards too. Just eye candy as for as I'm concerned. At least pmdg have "mostly" sensible eye candy lolSmooth frames sounds brilliant to me, I'm not a fps addict as long as it's flyable it suits me.At least I see now the gns is a pop up so I'm over the moon about that.Waiting patiently for the joy of memories.John Ellison

Like any other complex addon, this is gonna depend on CPU. The guys on the team with i7s are seeing upwards of 40FPS... I will be upgrading shortly :)

I have the Mustang and the MD-11. The MD-11 is better on framerates. The main issue with the mustang is the garmin displays. They have a lot of information on them and that can really impact the the performance.

I think my problem with the Mustang is video card memory or something like that - it would explain why the performance suddenly drops like it does. I don't have the MD-11 for FSX (bought it for FS9, wishing I did FSX instead now lol) so I can't compare it myself. The Garmin displays do show a lot, but I think the cabinets and toilet seats might have something to do with it too.

I did own the C Mustang when I used to have a Q6700 and when I'd go low and slow in a populated downtown area (ei Toronto) she'd drop very very low. Also there wasn't 'planned' navigraph support at the time (I wasn't aware of it), so I decided to get my money back. Now I have a core i7 920 and she's pretty hot, but still if you running REX 2.0 FTX with high settings in FSX and you fly into Sydney at dawn she can still be brought to her knees pretty quick. Anyways I'll be flying this plane around FTX (hope for some VH-... liveries) and I can't wait. Speaking of witch, does anyone know the j41's take/land distances in Standard Atmosphere? I'd like to get an idea of where I can put her in FTX, thanksJ T COLLINS

The F1 Mustang is a real FPS hog... Even the PMDG MD-11 is smoother...
