I currently have the Prolimatech Megahalems and an I7 920 OC to 4.0 ghz at 1.275 vcore. At 100% load it hits a MAXIMUM of 60 and at idle it hovers around 38. I'd definately reccomend it! It's either the Prolimatech or the True 120 (I think that's what it's called)James Lunsford

I'd go with the Thermalright 1366 coolerhttp://www.crazypc.com/products/ultra-120-1366-50985.html

This Pro....duh duh duh...is the highest rated air cooler now I believe. It's just so fraking hard to pronounce. I think it beats the TRUE.That's the one I'd get. And it's designed by the same folks that designed the TRUE.-jk

The top 5 or so air coolers are all very close to each other, and then the top 30 or so below that are also bunched up not too far below. Whatever you choose, just make sure it's big and has an abundance of heat pipes. The ability to accommodate 2 fans is also a necessity for high-end coolers. Slapping a 2nd fan on my Vendetta 2 allowed me to drop load temps by 9 degrees C under OCCT Linpack stress testing my Q9550 @ 4GHz.I also happen to like the Thermolab Baram and the Thermalright IFX-14.

Thank-you all for your input. Forums like this are worth their weight in gold when you have people such as yourselves sharing their knowledge / experiences.Stephen.

I recommend the OCZ Vendetta 2 air cooler. It took my CPU temps from the 75-80C range all the way down to the mid 50s when under maximum OCCT testing load, and when idling it went from the mid 50s and 60s down to the high 30s to low 40s. It is also whisper quiet. I tried others and did not get this kind of performance.Stephen

The Vendetta 2 is pretty good but really needs a 2nd fan if serious overclocking is your desire. With one fan I simply could not reach the 4GHz I desired with my Q9550 but a 2nd fan fixed that.

Scythe Mugen 2 here. But as Techguy mentioned, there comes a point when they're all around the same performance. I think, oddly enough, that it comes down to aesthetics-- your own taste. I happen to dislike all of these silly flame/animal/sword shaped toys built to impress 14 year olds.(Sorry to those younger forum members)
