September 4, 200916 yr Any info on Weather Radar integration? I remember it being mentioned some while ago. But has any of the beta testers successfully added it to the VC yet? And if so, can you add the successful panel.cfg entry for it here?I know we can always add any Reality XP unit manually in the panel.cfg and add a 2D popup. Doesn't matter if the knobs have to be adjusted in 2D, as long as the screen is properly displayed in the VC.
September 4, 200916 yr 747-fan (name?),The JS4100 includes an RXPWX500.INI file, so customers who have the WX500 for FSX will automatically see the weather radar in their panel. It's not a seamless integration, in that the 3D switches on the weather radar bezel don't work, but the hotspots on the radar screen work perfectly, so if you want the radar, it's there. September 4, 200916 yr Sorry for seeming anonymous, updated sig. That's a very elegant solution! Does it require you to run the RXP setup tool first? I haven't got the RXP unit yet, but depending on system performance I might get it. If the J41 is smooth enough and I can afford the extra FPS loss from using the weather radar in this plane. I assume you do lose a couple of FPS with the unit installed?
September 4, 200916 yr 23:00hrs and crew scheduling have not called, dont ya just hate standby duty! :( Perhaps ill be called in tomorrow!Stuart
September 4, 200916 yr Tore,You shouldn't need to run the configurator -- that part's already been done for you. If you install the RXP WX500 after installing the JS4100, you'll see that it's already been installed in the Jetstream's panel. To be perfectly honest, I tend to look for the more subjective "smoothness" since FPS doesn't seem to provide much of anything but a basis for an argument. (My opinion only - and fair warning, I will not engage in an FPS debate.) On my Q6600 machine with 4 GB RAM and an 8500GT graphics card, the JS4100 is very smooth except in high traffic areas or in very heavy weather. The RXP weather radar doesn't seem to make an appreciable difference in performance.
