September 9, 200916 yr Am I reading this right that CrossFire or SLI is beneficial in FSX?http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/core-i...ng,2403-10.htmlThanks guys,RHThese tests used the default "Ultra" settings, with framerates locked at 20fps, in DX10 mode. With the resolution at 1680x1050 they imply that SLI/Crossfire helps an X4 965 with an ATI 4870X2 to the tune of <4fps. With the resolution at 2560x1600 they imply that SLI/Crossfire helps the X4 965 to the tune of <2fps, with a Q9550 being helped by <4fps, both with ATI 4870X2 cards. Those being the data, I think it would be pure speculation to draw any kind of conclusion from this article about how Crossfire or SLI might help under DX9 and/or with the sorts of setting that (I suspect) most serious users of FSX have come to use. I think the most that can fairly be said is that they are not inconsistent with the received wisdom: namely, that Crossfire/SLI is generally unproductive for FSX but that it might in some circumstances produce an uplift for resolutions of 2560x1600 or above, by helping with the anti-aliasing.Rgds,Tim 14900ks, RTX4090, 64Gb@6000-30-36-36-T2, Samsung 990Pro 2Tb , Dell G3223Q 32" 4k Gsync + 27" secondary monitor. September 9, 200916 yr I can't tell that these guys know anything about FSX. They keep treating it like it is any other game. I can't speak to SLI, but I have a rig close to some they tested. As we know "Ultra High" only sets defaults for your system. I think a better test would be to max everything and then see what happens. And what was their test flight? If, as they say, they turn down resolution and get 200+ fps (might be a exaggeration), then they are not flying anywhere serious. Flying full traffic and weather at KJFK might be more of a real test.Bob Bob i5, 16 GB ram, GTX 960, FS on SSD, Windows 10 64 bit, home built works anyway.
September 10, 200916 yr If I'm reading this right, looks like its an all Crossfire thing. The only one that shows up blue in the chart is the 4870X2. I'd like to see the framerate bumped up to say 30 and see what we would get. Capping at 20 we can't tell what or if SLI does to help.Larry Larry Falcone No matter where you go............... ...................there you are............ Buckaroo Banzai
September 10, 200916 yr Problem is most FSX reviewers don't bother even setting up the software properly first. I doubt any reviewer has read Nick's setup guide. Best thing to do is get forum members who have "X" config post their frames based on same area, aircraft, and settings.
September 12, 200916 yr seems like i remember a benchmark created by someone here abouts. Not sure about who but does somone have a link? I'd try it on my intel/nvidia system. My AMD system has too many addons to make a fair comparison though and I'm not about to take them out :) Larry Falcone No matter where you go............... ...................there you are............
