September 9, 200916 yr Is it possible to make a flightplan without using SIDs and STARs? If I fly with FSX ATC there's no point in using them anyway, and for a short test flights I'm trying to do (50-100nm) they just go around in circles :)Greg
September 9, 200916 yr Author I know but how do I do it? When I select depart EGGP press enter then change to runway and select 09 and then it asks me to select SID. How do I skip this step? there's no NONE option.Greg
September 9, 200916 yr Greg,There's no reason to select a departure runway in the FMS unless you're using a DP (SID). Most likely, without a SID assigned by ATC, you'll get a departure vector ("Maintain runway heading...") and after you're handed off to Departure, you'll get cleared direct to your first filed waypoint. September 9, 200916 yr Author OK, so I press departure, enter my airport press enter and then what? If I go back to flight plan my departure airport is removed and if I press enter I have to select SID, the same with STARs on arrival. I know I don't have to use SIDs or STARs but how do I enter flightplan without them?Greg
September 9, 200916 yr If you don't want to select a SID or a STAR, do not select DEPARTURE or ARRIVAL. Just start the flight plan with your origin, a list of fixes and airways, and the destination. Don't need approaches in the FMS either. Too simple? Dan Downs KCRP
September 10, 200916 yr Author All right, thanks. I thought it's like all the others FMSses out there, that it needs departure and arrival. Yeah, it was too simple for me to figure out :).Greg
September 10, 200916 yr I thought it's like all the others FMSses out there, that it needs departure and arrival. No FMS (this or another) needs departure or arrival. Like was said before there are airports with no departure and/or no arrival procedures. Michael J.
