Extremely important piece of info....
I have one light switch in the kitchen that sometimes flips my fuses off, couldn't find why. I tend not to use it when I do something on my PC. :)Greg Furmanski

A FMC question
Instead of selecting departure and sid enter airport code as first waypoint. This way you won't even have to choose runway. As for selecting this waypoint pews the lsk twice, that should do it.Grzegorz Furmanski.

Still having trouble starting up!
Start locks: press shut down engine button and when RPM passes 50% put throttles in reverse. I think you have problem because you put them in reverse first but that's just my guess.Grzegorz Furmanski

Landing Lights
Aren't landing lights on front gear in this aircraft? That would make them useless when the gear is up. I thought that's why You have conspiciuos lights on until 10 000 feet.Greg

Radeon 4850 to GTX 460
gfurm replied to gfurm's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcWhat I have noticed for sure is no blurries around me when flying low and slow. Also I have FAA set to 8S and 16x anisotropic filtering, which I couldn't set with radeon. So there's real improvement over 4850. I could also push my CPU to around 3.8GHz but my memory won't run at that.Edit: after deleting fsx.cfg framerates went up quite a lot. in default trike over manchester from 45 to 70Greg

Radeon 4850 to GTX 460
Just did that, swapped 4850 for GTX460. Running FSX at 720p on 42" LCD, intel [email protected] 4GB RAM.Most noticable difference: textures loading much faster, haven't noticed any of the usual tile swapping (from lower res to higher), everything nice and crisp. As far as FPS are concerned, I think I gained a few, but not many. But there's almost no difference when changing weather from fair to rainy, FPS stays the same, on 4850 it was going down.Overall I'd say it's a big improvement, especially to IQ if not FPS.Greg

Smooth landings and lights
I never install anything in in program files folder. The addon itself is good, but there is few post on their forums with problem I described and in NONE of them the creator of FSP responded. Also quite a few people been asking for serial numbers via email and complaining that there's no answer. I've not visited it for some time now as I stopped using FSP, so maybe it got better. But last time I was there any questions about support from the author were answered by forum moderators, and it was always: he's busy. Grzegorz Furmanski

Smooth landings and lights
You don't want to do that, especially if using Vista. I and many others had problems with authorization under Vista. It registered fine and then in the middle of flight it said that I stole the program and it's going to end. Only solution is to reinstall, but how many times do you want to do that? And there's virtually no support, the guy who made it is always too busy to answer forum questions, the only support you get is from other users. But FS Flight Keeper is great.Grzegorz Furmanski

wireless joystick - worst idea ever
- wireless joystick - worst idea ever
Mine is Saitek. I've also noticed that if I move it slowly enough it won't send any input to my PC, I checked it in calibration screen. And when the damn thing goes to sleep sometimes pressing buttons in not enough to connect it to PC, have to pull out the battery. But when it's working OK I can't say a bad word about it, if only it did all the time.Grzegorz Furmanski- Were is the CG CALCULATOR?
I belive that if final trim is 27.1 on weigh sheet that's what you're suppose to set on trim wheel. There's a scale just next to it. Greg- wireless joystick - worst idea ever
For last few weeks I had issues with JS41 AP disconnecting quite often. I calibrated the joystick numerous times, adjusted deadzones and still no improvement. But today it was a complete disaster. First during taxi brakes and rudder weren't responding all the time and then when I was on approach to Rome at 4000 feet, capturing localizer and suddenly AP disconnected and aircraft went to violent roll. I managed not to crash (by about 100 feet) and landed safely. The Flight Keeper reported max bank angle 154 max descent 18 000 fpm and max pitch 34 degrees. The reason: stupid wireless joystick. In calibration it wasn't responding as it should until I removed and put in the wireless dongle for it. Besides, to save battery the bloody thing goes to sleep after couple minutes of inactivity, then you have to either press a button or move it quite vigorously. It seemed like a good idea not to have cables across my living room when I fly, as my little kid just loves to pull anything out of USB port, but now it just makes me want to throw this stupid thing out of window.Grzegorz Furmanski- strange ATC behaviour
To clarify: I was flying the aircraft and I had the comms. In RC I have holding set to weather. The manual says that when ATC contacts me and wants me to hold I can choose between holding pattern and delay vectors. Weather at destiniation was bad so I think I was being held. After all this vectors from ATC he told me "that wasn't so hard" or something very similar. My question is: could he give me instruction to fly certain heading for a number of miles or certain time and then to head back without further instructions? I just want to know if I missed something.- strange ATC behaviour
More info: I was flying to Paris de gaulle airport. The star for runway 8r I had programmed is about 100nm long. That wasn't included in fsx or rc flightplan, but when looking at fsx map I was still on the pink line when I received first instruction to turn around. I didn't have any outstanding acknowledgments and I was on correct altitude. Is it possible that atc told me to fly certain distance or time before heading back? the manual says I have an option to choose between delaying vectors and holding but I didn't get that option.Anyway, I have to slow the speech down so I can get everything it says.Greg- strange ATC behaviour
I was flying at 1x and I had the comms way before that happened. And the next wp in RC window was the airport so I didn't miss any on the way. I must have been held by delay vectors but I don't know why I didn't get any instructions after the first one until I decided to turn around. I think I heard ATC spelling a waypoint but it was too fast for me to get everything, and when I acknowledged it it only read back the heading.Greg- strange ATC behaviour
That's the first time it happened. I was 80nm from destination and ATC told me to to fly heading opposite to my current heading (I think it said something about holding, but it spoke too fast for me to catch all of it). So I flew it for 40 nm without ATC contacting me again. Then I got bored and turned around thinking that something went wrong with RC. When I was 40nm from my destination ATC contacted me again issuing some strange heading commands making me flying big S shaped track 20nm from airport and changing heading instructions every 20 seconds, then it said it wasn't that hard and I should contact approach. At this time I was 8000ft AGL and 30nm from airport. So what happened there? Did I miss something?Greg- View switching problem
same here.Greg- milibars vs inches
I just changed tolerance in critique config file and it's OK now.- milibars vs inches
I fly mostly in europe using PMDG JS41. My question is: since altimeter in ariplane doesn't show decimals on milibar scale how should I know when to stop turning the knob? I mean 29.92 in = 1013.2 mb but since thre's no decimal on the gauge it will Show 1013mb even when the in settings is 29.91 or 29.93 in inches. That caused my Flight keeper to penalize me for wrong altimeret setting.Last flight was (from FS Flight Keeper)pressure 1014.9 my altimeter 1015.2 but both are showing 1015 in the plane. In inches it's 29.97 and 29.98 so I could easily set that if controller told me altimeter in inches, but since I'm in europe he didn't. So what would be te solution for that?Greg- about altimeter
At the moment I have one button on my joystick set to standard pressure and another to reset altimeter (to current pressure). When I pass TL in UK 5000 feet I just press standatd pressure (2992 or 1013) and that works OK. But when I go below UK TL cotroller gives me altimeter setting and I press reset altimeter to current pressure sometimes it's different than what he said. I just assume that he wants me to fly at the airport pressure rather than the one which is around me. Then I have to set it manually. Right?Greg- Problem with start operation (EHSI and EADI)
You are not supposed to start a flight with JS41. That's why you have problems. Always load default aircraft first.Greg- about altimeter
That's what I wanted to know. If I'm below transition altitude and controller tells me altimeter is 1003 but when i press altimeter reset it sets 1009 what should I do? Set it to what controller wants?Greg- about altimeter
In my FSX pressing b resets altimeter to current altitude pressure. That's why I asked.Greg - wireless joystick - worst idea ever
