August 11, 201015 yr You didn't mention the check that your props are on the start locks and not in feather position. If they are feathered, the starter shaft will eventually break trying to start the engine with all that drag from the props and give you some smoke. Dan Downs KCRP
August 11, 201015 yr I keep seeing people use this method, loading a Cessna then shutting it down and selecting the JS4100, the props start off unfeathered, but just wait a few minutes they eventually become feathered again. I think this is why alot of newer users are having problems. I always just load the js4100 from the start and go through the shutdown checks, when the engines start to shutdown through the throttle into reverse. But now that I using fs2crew one push of a button gets it all ready for me :(
August 11, 201015 yr Author Sorry to sound dumb but how do you get your engines on the start locks and unfeathered? James Roberts
August 11, 201015 yr Hi, I've found much easier way to get Your aircraft dark&cold. All You need to do is run the game via save game file and not FSX.EXE. Just go to Your documents, doubleclick "PMDG BAe JS4100 Tutorial 1 at KHPN.FSSAVE" and enjoy Your aircraft. No need to play with Cessna, fs2crew and any other additional software. After You finish Your flight, just fallow the shutdown procedure and save Your flight. Next time You load it the way I described it will be in the same place, and in the same state as You saved it, well sometimes FSX does load it incorrectly which adds some random effect, which is even more cool.About start locks, it's described in AOM but shortly: set power levers to reverse, shut down engines, and set power levers back to idle (F1).Cheers.
August 11, 201015 yr Start locks: press shut down engine button and when RPM passes 50% put throttles in reverse. I think you have problem because you put them in reverse first but that's just my guess.Grzegorz Furmanski
August 11, 201015 yr The start up guide at the top of the forum is a very useful post and clearly sets out the correct start up procedure to follow. I strongly recomend that you read this post. It is the quickest way to successful start ups and all the enjoyment that is to be had in flying the JS 41!!!Good luck.John K
August 11, 201015 yr Fuuny that you mention that John, I thought the same thing but I still lack too much knowledge in the JS41 department to want to say anything :wink:It is a great read (and easy on the eyes too). i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
