September 10, 200916 yr I have had occasions where I needed to change the arrivial due to changing weather. I can't figure out how to 'edit' the arrival to reflect the change. No matter what I do, I can't change the original landing runway. Thanks.Bob Bob Prince
September 10, 200916 yr I suppose you can change the arrival airport via the FPL page. Selecting a runway in the FMS doesn't make it show up on the EHSI.If you delete the airport identifier in your FPL page and add in a new one, you can program a new STAR for that new airport. At least, that's how I would do it since that's how I change waypoints. :) Erik L.

I cannot find a way to change the active runway from say 9L to 27R. I can add and delete STAR way-points, but it won't let me change the RW. Can you delete the destination airport without deleting the flight plan?Bob :) Bob Prince
September 10, 200916 yr Commercial Member The GNS-XL FMS in the J41 was not certified for approaches - at most in the real world you'd be using it to get into the terminal area, at which point you'd receive ATC vectors onto the ILS, which you perform using raw data as in the tutorial flight... The runway waypoints are purely informational and RSR says it was often the case that there weren't any in the flight plan. September 10, 200916 yr Commercial Member So we technically shouldnt even be using it to fly GPS approaches? Noah Bryant
September 10, 200916 yr Not technically or otherwise. Best Regards, Kurt "Yoda" Kalbfleisch Pinner, Middx, UK Beta tester for PMDG J41, NGX, and GFO, Flight1 Super King Air B200, Flight1 Cessna Citation Mustang, Flight1 Cessna 182, Flight1 Cessna 177B, Aeroworx B200
September 10, 200916 yr Author Not technically or otherwise.Well, I am thoroughly confused now. I don't understand why you can select an ILS RW for landing then not be offered a method to change it later in the flight. Thanks. Bob :) Bob Prince
September 11, 200916 yr Sorry, Bob. I was being flippant.Normally, you will not enter the approach into the FMS, because as Ryan said, your flight plan will terminate at a fix near the destination, and you'll rely on vectors by ATC to get you onto the ILS localizer...assuming the airport you're flying to even has a precision approach! September 11, 200916 yr Commercial Member Approaches on the GNS are considered advisory only for situational awareness. You still put them in to have as a reference, but it is not approved to be the primary navigation source for an approach - you need to use the raw data from the ILS signal for that. September 11, 200916 yr Okay, Bob...here's your answer. As Ryan says, the approach on the GNS is only advisory. You CAN change them once entered, and here's how to do it:1. Press the FPL key, bringing up the ACTIVE FPL 1/X page (where X is the number of pages).2. Press LSK 5L to highlight APPROACH and press the ENTER key to bring up the APPCH page.3. Press LSK 1R to bring up the runway options.4. Press the appropriate left-side LSK to highlight the runway you wish and press ENTER.5. Press LSK 2R -- TWICE -- to bring up the TRANSITION options.6. Press the appropriate left-side LSK to highlight the transition you wish and press ENTER.7. Press the appropriate left-side LSK to select the type of approach you wish and press ENTER.8. Review the approach waypoints, note that the word SELECT? is highlighted, and press ENTER.9. Press the NAV key to bring up the NAVIGATION 1/4 page. September 12, 200916 yr hi guys think i got a better and quick way of changing the arrival rwy etc and stars when approaching the destination airfield. When starting from the departure airfield enter all the datails in the fms except dont enter the star or rwy u want to land so when u get close the the destonation airport and once u know what rwy and star u are given by the atc than u can enter the star and rwy in the fms hope this helps I7-8700k,Corsair h1101 cooler ,Asus Strix Gaming Intel Z370 S11 motherboard, Corsair 32gb ramDD4,, gtx 1080ti Card, RM850 power supply Peter kelberg
